Photographer's Note

This day we went to Gdansk by train. The weather was quite unstable with heavy showers, but with some sun occasionally. Back in Sopot it stopped raining, and the sun came out again. I could not resist capture some shots of this fabulous building, which is Hotel Rezydent, located next to the railway station, and not fra from the main street Bohaterów Monte Cassino.

I think this is a fine architectural photo, showing the elegant hotel building in the typical low light of winter, after the rain which we can still see on the road. The sky is really well captured, and the exposure handled well the contrast between the light and shadows. The movement of the pedestrians and cars gives the photo more life. Very nicely done.

Hello Erling,
back to Poland again and to memories of the last summer?really successful come back.I remember this hotel from my visit in Sopot(although is been 10 years now).The architecture is undeniably beautiful,but your presentation and unique weather make the shot unforgettable.This charming,warm light so beautifully illuminating the hotel and this play of light&shade create really unique and pleasant atmosphere of this scene.It´s a great shot to see how can we take advantage of the weather.

Erling - Fabulous building, certainly, and in this light really amazing. The glow from the sun enhances the red roof against the sky and clouds, and creates nice shadows to give the building a great depth. Nicely done!

I spent only a few hours in Gdansk, from a Baltic cruise ship, and would very much like to make it back someday - a beautiful city with a fascinating history.

So this is what the city of Sopot looks like!
the city I should have visited from Gdansk but i chose not too!
I like days similar to this, bright sunny, with lots of clouds which add flavour to the scene.
