Photographer's Note

This is a picture taken at the annual film festival in Sopot, Poland. At the pier in Sopot, one of the main attractions of this little city outside Gdansk, they show movies on a big screen every day of the film festival. This was the opening day, and many Polish celebrities had attended the grand opening. The show is free. As we was sitting there watching a film on the opening day, my son Fredrik and I, the view of the film collapsed and it was some time before they could mangage to start up again. The empty glasses left from the celebrities on an illuminated table caught my attention.

This picture can also be used as a metaphor for the economic and financial crisis both Europe and the United States is currently undergoing, and let us hope that the new year will be a turning point in this respect.

Really nice colors here, Erling, and a great effect with the glasses themselves fading into the BG darkness. Nice graphism out of some everyday objects and extraordinary light. Happy new year to you as well!

And concerning the photo-the scene is suitable to celebrate first day of the New Year.I like your concept of this image and of course your perfect execution.It´s well framed.For me it´s all about light here-and the light you captured is really fabulous and create so lovely,festive mood.

when i noticed it was a Poland photo from you, i guessed right away Sopot!
damn, i wish i had taken the time to go there from Gdansk!
Apparently you can also take a ferry to Copenhagen too!

wonderful photo for a new yeas celebration, but you're 10 days to late Erling! haha
or perhaps your 355 days early for next year :)

Great still life shot and its place should be on a cover of a magazine or a billboard. Wonderful colours and great light management. What really makes it for me is the half-eaten strawbery in the glass in the middle.
