Photographer’s Note

I showed you before the Charlotta Valley. A few days ago they finished to build an amphitheatre for over 3000 people. Last weekend to this place near Slupsk came rock stars, like the Animals, Ray Wilson with Stiltskin and Terryman. Terryman played pieces of Hendrix, the Eagles and own works. There was a beautiful show, one and half an hour of dynamic, vivid guitar masterpieces. Great contact with publicity. So I like it very much. It was just hard to take photographs, because my legs moved in the rhythm of the music ;).

As you see, this is my short break in landscapes ;).

Nie spodziewa³em sie u Ciebie takiej foty. Czasem zmiana tematu dobrze robi ;-).Ale fajnie pokaza³e¶ tego gitarzystê, ciekawy klimat. Czy to koncert Jazzowy? Dobry kadr i ciekawe kolorki. Podoba siê.

U, tego u ciebie jeszcze nie widzia³em... Koncerty ci w g³owie. Niez³y go¶ciu zasuwa na gitarze. Takie zdjêcia przy sztucznym ¶wietle wcale nie s± ³atwe do zrobienia. Ale wysz³o ci ciekawie.

He, he - what a surprise ;)
I like it! - red & black - always a successful combination (by the way, there was a Romanian band wearing this name, they are no more active nowadays, as far as I know).
Hmm, the white on the guitar seems a bit overexposed (I feel it a bit too strong) and the focus seems to be on Terryman's left hand :) - I think I would have liked it on his face. Was it because of your legs which were moving in the rhythm of the music :))) ?
I know little about the musician you portray here (I love his hair :) ) and about his music; I'm more familiar with the Animals.

Hi Henryk,
This is very well done; light management is always a huge factor with indoor musician shots. The aperture required to get enough light makes focus difficult as well; especially since musicians NEVER stand still. Of course if you're dancing too.... Yet you managed to work your way around all of these to capture an outstanding portrait. Well done!! I told Larry you were planning to post a musician when you critiqued one of mine. ;-) We usually send the musician a copy as a thank you.

Yeah, you already announced something else than a landscape. I find this a very nice different photo. A good portrait of the musician and his guitar. You managed the lighting on the stage very well and I like the red background. Good work!

Heniu, Ty, autor pejzazy, chadzasz na koncerta, i takie foty robisz ???
No, niezle...dynamiczniejszy moment by sie przydal...ale jak ktos robi wydemki i chmurki, no to takich sytuacji jest niezwyczajny...Jak na "premiere", pewnego rodzaju, to jest superek. Kadr dobry, swiatlo niezle, brak tylko moze "orgazmu" u muzyka.

It's nice, very well done with the strong glance of the guiarist towards the side. The red background is excellent, the way i interacts with his hair due parfectly catched.

J'aime beaucoup l'ambiance et la lumière de ta photo. Pas facile avec les spots mais le rendu final est très beau.
Je suppose qu'en plus la musique était bonne...

Widzê, i¿ nie tylko mnie zaskoczy³e¶ tym kadrem, ale dotyczy to sporej grupki sympatyków Twojej fotografii. To ca³kowita niespodzianka po wcze¶niejszych, spokojnych kadrach z wydmow± sceneri± - trochê ekspresji muzyczne przy pomocy ¶rodka wyrazu jakim jest fotografia. Zdjêcie ³adne, starannie kadrowane i we w³a¶ciwym momencie kiedy palce k³ada siê na struny by wydaæ kolejne d¼wiêki.

.... and a very good break from your landscapes, Henryk. Although, I have to say that I'm through and through a landscape lover and would like to see you back to it, I have to admit that this one is really very good. The red light framing the profile of this musician is perfect.

Hi Henryk,
The orange and black tones blend harmoniously here in fine subtle light. You also avoided undue glare on the silver portion of the guitar. The cropping is tasteful and there is a wonderful ambience here. A fine capture.

Lubię taką muzykę chociaż gościa nie znam ( no cóż może gdyby był blondynką z dużym biustem zrobiłby większa karierę. Ale pewnie i sam hendrix gdyby urodził się 30 lat później też by grywał w Szarlocie. Lepsze to niż nic ). Przy okazji - jeśli chodzi o muzyków inspirujących się Hendrixem bardzo lubię Franka Marino i James'a Blood Ulmer'a, że o Stevie Ray Vaughan'ie nie wspomnę - jego wersja Little Wing to majstersztyk. Myślę że ten koncert to było ciekawe doświadczenie. Sorry, poniosło mnie lekko i zapomniałem przez moment że to portal o fotografii a nie o muzyce. Fotka tradycyjnie bdb technicznie, atmosferę koncertu podkreślają efektowne światła w tle, a ich czerwona tonacja tylko podgrzewa atmosferę.

Co do ostrości nie mam zastrzeżeń - wprawdzie prawa ręka jest w ruchu, ale przecież gość gra na gitarze - focus jest tam gdzie trzeba - więc nie podzielam opinii nicol

Ech z¿era mnie zazdrosæ, wiêc nie wiem, czy jestem w stanie co¶ rozs±dnego napisaæ... ;). Zazdroszczê Ci tych mocnych, wibruj±cych dzwiêków przenikaj±cych cia³o, je¿±cych w³osy; tych emocji, których dostarcza obcowanie z ¿yw± muzyk± (a szczególnie z szeroko rozumian± muzyk± rockow±) i muzykami; ¶piewania razem z innymi ¶piewaj±cymi... tej uczty dla oczu, uszu i ducha...
A zdjêcie... ¦wietny kadr - bohater jest w centrum (hmm dla jednego to bêdzie gitara, dla kogo innego - Terryman), "dynamiczne" ¶wiat³o w tle (zupe³nie jak ta "energetyzuj±ca" muzyka), dobra ostro¶æ. Prawie, ¿e s³ychaæ d¼wiêki...
Doskona³y "human break" w Twej twórczo¶ci, choæ ja i tak czekam na kolejne Twoje zdjêcia Natury... :).

This is a nice break Henryk. The colours of the image are excellent. You held your hand steady to capture this shot indoors. Good sharpness and exposure. The musician look really good as he moves his fingers to create music. Nice work Henryk :-)

Hello Henryk,

In this classic shot, you've caught the artist looking away, a nice touch to create and air of detachment. The colors and vivid, and the image is sharp, despite your legs keeping time with the rhythm.

You had posted a couple photographs last year of the low lying fog in the meadow; and I thought only in Poland! I don't see that around here. This morning, on my way to the university to teach at 7:50 am, lo and behold the low lying fog Polish fog in the meadow was here. I immediately stopped, set up a tripod a shot half a dozen shots.

Olá Henryk, not easy to see portraits from you, specially from non feminine sex ;-) Also not easy to find posts of yours without my critic. The fact is that it's a pleasure to read your enthusiastic note about this show. And it fits well with the beautiful red background. Nice sharp image. His hand must be shaking fast, considering the 1/000s shutter speed.
