Gdansk Old Town, a photo from Pomorskie, West

Photographer's Note

The beautiful old town of Gdansk offered a lot of photo opportunities, but it was quite crowded. So in this picture I chosed to lift the camera and crop a little bit of the bottom. The fine architecture is typical and shows clear signs of the fact that this city for a long period was a part of the Hanseatic League. In the foreground the fountain of Neptune.

finally we can admire your new photo.Excellent capture of the symbol of Gdansk-the Neptune Fountain.I like your idea with a little bit higher POV,slightly above the people heads,which makes we do not distract our attention from the Fountain and this beautiful hanseatic architecture around.I enjoy the view of it as you chose good perspective so the houses at this street lead our eyes till the horizon.Well considered shot.
Superb quality,very nice and well-saturated colors and surprisingly even the dark clouds look captivating.

We often see the facades of these beautiful buildings . A good idea to show them in this perspective , with the superb foutain in the Fg .

Hej Erling,
Yes, it is difficult to avoid a lot of people in Gdansk old town especially in July but i think you did the right choice here to lift the camera a little bit. Perhaps you could have taken one step to the left to get the fountain more to the right in this frame but i am not sure if that should have improved the picture. Anyhow, a nice shot from an interesting place, nice light and colors.Tfs!

Hello Erling,
The light on the facades in different colours makes them stand out against the blue sky.
The Neptune fountain, almost like a silhouette, is an interesting element on the foreground.
Gdansk has a wonderful old town. No wonder it's always crowded there.

Hi Erling

Yes, Gdansk was busy when Craig (macjake) and I were there to. We also had very dark, grey skies as you captured in this photo. Here you have shown us a pretty part of the main area that includes the fountain and the architecture along the road. Good sharpness and exposure well controlled.
