Photographer’s Note
Grand Crane in the city of Gdańsk, Long Wharf, on the Motlava river. Originally XIV century, the lifting crane of Gdansk took its present form in 1444. With a lifting capacity of up to 2000 kg, it was used for raising cargo or setting masts. Damaged during World War II, it was rebuilt after the war.

hello Mikolaj,
democratic movement in Poland was certainly an inspiration for the whole Central and Eastern Europe, so 4 June and first elections is a commemorative day and event for all of us. the flag is a fitting element in the photo, although I'd try a different composition to avoid the clutter on the right and centered position of the bigger building. there seems to be some barrel distortion, and the light looks quite harsh, the scene might look much better in the warm light of the evening.
best,
Kristine

Hello Mikolaj,
A splendid composition with lovely vibrant colours. The flag blowing in the wind makes a good frame and contributes a sense of dynamism. Very good sharpness.

Hello Mikolaj,
The view on the Grand Crane (and the buildings at the quayside) from at the other side of the Motlava is wonderful.
I think you've composed this picture well with the Polish flag high in the sky next to the big cloud.
Beautiful colours.

Hello Mikolaj,
I will think a crane like this was a triumph of engineering back in those days, very impressive!
The building is a real eye-catcher too, standing out among the more modest neighbours...
The good light renders fine colours, and the view is nicely framed by the Polish flag!

A very nice patriotic picture. The texture of the flag has come out really well and the medieval crane makes for a fantastic backdrop.

Mikolaj,
This is a great shot of this fine old crane. The crane is contrasted nicely by the modern building right next to it. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail. The flag in the foreground adds nice depth and color to the shot.

Dear Mikolaj
To use the flag at the right corner is a very clever idea. So everybody knows where the picture has been taken. Gdansk ... recall that that was the city of Lech Waleza. Then of course I remember the German past of the town. I have read a lot about the town, but so far I never went there. Thanks for letting me have a glimpse of it. Contrast are excellent, the houses against the blue sky. Great composition and well executed with vivid colors, fine sharpness and perfect DOF. Well done
Best regards
