Opole is a city in southern Poland on the Oder River. It has a population of about 125 000 and is the capital of the Upper Silesia, Opole Voivodeship and, also the seat of Opole County.

Opole City Hall was built in 1864. In the Middle Ages, at the site of the present town hall was a wooden merchant house, in the 14th century, the city authorities have decided to build a brick city hall. In the 16th century was built a tower with a clock and bell. Around 1818 there was a fire that destroyed the old tower, in 1864 was erected a new 60-meter tower modeled on the Palace Vecchio in Florence. The hall is used today as the seat of the municipal government.
