Defensive walls were built in 13th – 15 th c. The ring of the walls surrounded the whole town, so they extended at the length of 1,400 meters. Turrets and towers strengthened the defensive function of the walls. One tower and one turret still exist. The walls were restored and illuminated thanks to financial support of the EU.
Directly beyond the walls there was the monastery of Grey Friars, built in 14 c. The existing part of the monastery is the present garrison church under the invocation of the Holy Cross Elevation.
On the picture you can see part of remains of the city walls, the Turret at Cicha Street and tower of the Franciscan church.
