Photographer’s Note
Terrible weather yesterday was rewarded later with warm light and double full rainbow which I culd admire from the 5th floor of one of the Retkinia's block of flats.
Retkinia was incorporated into Łódź in 1946, then it was decided to build here modern housing estate in the 60s. Last works were finished here in 1985, then only a few building were built here, the last one in 2006.
It's a perfectly communicated area with the centre, and what is surprising there's lots of greenery and space despite loads of concrete there.
Now with a population of 71 000 people it is one of the biggest block district in Łódź - with 747 152 inhabitants.

The light on the houses, and their colors, are the perfect complement for the glorious capture of the double rainbow

Witaj Gosia,
This is a spectacular rainbow, indeed it is a double rainbow. The Irish say that there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. However, no one has ever proved it. A couple of months ago I submitted an image of a similar natural phenomenon, but this one is always present during the daytime as a Footbridge Between Cliffs.
Warm regards from Virginia,
Bulent

Good evening Gosia!
everyone is complaining about the bad wather Europe has had during the last weeks, but let's see it this way: due to raining and sun shining at the same time, rainbows have popped out everywhere. It's supposed to be a good sign, and we're having lots of them... :p
I like the way the lower part of the picutr is also a kind of a rainbow, but a man made one.
All the best
Adrian

Hello Gosia,
Excellent capture of an elusive rainbow!
The rest of the scene also enjoys the fine evening light, adding warmth to the scene...
I also notice a faint second rainbow, this is a phenomenon called Alexander's band, after Alexander of Aphrodisias who first described it..!
Greetings,

Witaj Gosiu
Somewhere over the rainbow - tak śpiewała kiedyś Judy Garland. Dziś wiemy gdzie jest ten koniec tęczy...w Łodzi ;o)
Piękne zdjęcie, doskonałe kolory, notka...
Pozdrawiam
