Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist, Torun.

Church of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist, since 1935 Minor Basilica, since 1992 the Cathedral of Toruñ Diocese, former main parish church of Old Town of Toruñ. One of three gothic churches of the town, built from brick, an aisled hall with a monumental west tower. The first church from the 13th century was a small hall without aisles and with polygonal presbytery. This was replaced by aisled hall church in first half of 14th century, which was has been rebuilt many times and extended until it reached its present form at the end of 15th century. Interior is richly decorated and furnished. The earliest painted decorations in the presbytery date back to 14th century and depict the Crucifixion and the Last Judgement. One of the side chapels is connected with Nicolaus Copernicus. There is 13th-century baptismal font, supposedly used for baptizing the astronomer, 16th-century epitaph to him, and 18th-century monument. At the tower hangs Tuba Dei, the 3rd largest bell in Poland, cast in 1500.

A very well composed photograph with an excellent choice of POV. The black Lamp-post, white walls of the building on the bottom right,the green of the tree and the large clock with a blue background and golden streaks with roman numerals adds variety of colour to the composition. The clock itself is like a sun with its golden rays.
The details captured also reveal the dark coloured art and design work on the red brick walls.
The shadows are crisp and sharp on the roof.
Thanks for sharing and elegant piece of architecture.

Ostatnio jak by³em w Toruniu (2001r.) nie myslalem jeszcze o fotografii a szkoda sa tam piekne obiekty, ktore warto uwiecznic przyklad na zalaczonej fotografii.
Super POV, doskonale kolory i ostrosc.

¦wietnie sfotografowna wieza toruñskiej kolegiaty. Ostre ¶wiat³o nie wypali³o kolorów, lecz jeszcze je uwypukli³o. Cudowna kolorystyka i perfekcyjna jako¶æ obrazu.

A wonderful composition of this extraordinary and original tower, which seems more of a castle than a cathedral.
Nice play of light and shadow, the watch is a great decoration in the tower.
Beautiful colors and wonderful light.
