Photographer’s Note

City hall of Bydgoszcz, view from Old Square. Built in 1644 – 1653 (design by Wojciech Przybyłkowicz) as a Jesuit College, funded by Bishop Kasper Działyński and Crown Chancellor Jerzy Ossoliński, a former mayor of Bydgoszcz. Rebuil 1697-1702, 1705-1709 by Wojciech Głązowicz. After annulment of the order, the building functioned as a school. During the time of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, the building housed the Main Departmental School and, later on, a German grammar school. Since 1879 the building has been the seat of the Bydgoszcz authorities (City Council, the Mayor of Bydgoszcz and some departments of the Municipality of Bydgoszcz). Made of brick, provided with a cellar and pargeted. There are barrel and barrel-cross vaults in several rooms. In 1994 – 1996 the building was thoroughly reconstructed and modernized. The back elevation has eclectic decorations.

O, a gdzie ty ch³opie by³e¶ jak ciê nie by³o? Ciekawa architektura i ciekawy pomnik. Mo¿e na przodzie tylko tego placu da³e¶ za du¿o.

Hello Mikolaj,

Twice I stood in the same corner and twice I didn't get a blue sky like you did in this image. I have visited this city about 5 times and I like it. Very nice image indeed and the sky is an excellent backdrop to this interesting building...I heard the monument seen here will soon be taken down. Cheers :-)

jak sie masz, interesantka fotka ob bydgoszcz.
I have been twice there (my first polish customer comes from there) but never had the chance to visit it.
it seems I was quite dupek since I did not take time to have a glance at!

This is a very nice shot of the building with the monument in front of it.
The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail. Your composition and POV are excellent showing the scene from a nice angle.

Ratusz nawet calkiem interesujacy. Niezly jest tez ten pomnik z przodu. Szkoda, ze nic o tym nie piszesz, a to Pomnik Meczenstwa, jesli dobrze pamietam z wycieczki.
