City hall of Bydgoszcz, view from Old Square. Built in 1644 – 1653 (design by Wojciech Przybyłkowicz) as a Jesuit College, funded by Bishop Kasper Działyński and Crown Chancellor Jerzy Ossoliński, a former mayor of Bydgoszcz. Rebuil 1697-1702, 1705-1709 by Wojciech Głązowicz. After annulment of the order, the building functioned as a school. During the time of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, the building housed the Main Departmental School and, later on, a German grammar school. Since 1879 the building has been the seat of the Bydgoszcz authorities (City Council, the Mayor of Bydgoszcz and some departments of the Municipality of Bydgoszcz). Made of brick, provided with a cellar and pargeted. There are barrel and barrel-cross vaults in several rooms. In 1994 – 1996 the building was thoroughly reconstructed and modernized. The back elevation has eclectic decorations.
