Sand Bridge first mentioned in 1149, is considered to be the oldest in Wroclaw. Its construction is probably related to the existence of the ‘amber trail’ running from the Adriatic, through Sand Island, to the Baltic. A landing-place used for rafting timber, originally situated on Cathedral Island, was moved to the left bank of the river Odra, right next to the bridge.
In the 15th century, the bridge had a fortified wooden tower in the middle, the span adjacent to the island was designed as a drawbridge. When the city was fortified in the 17th century, the tower was removed. Only the drawbridge remained. The present-day iron bridge dates back to 1861 and is the oldest iron bridge in the city. In 2010 the bridge was renowated and painted red.

Beautiful light capture, perfect for this red bridge, nice reflections on water, good angle to take the view.

I have never seen a bridge as red as this one in my life.
Lovely shot of the bridge and the ornate lamp posts. They present eye catching contrast with the surroundings. I like the way you compose the BG with these lofty church towers perhaps. Great light, clarity and colors as usual.
Thanks for sharing a crisp bright photo.

a bridge with a fascinating history and it looks so distinctive in this stand out red paint. It looks wonderful and in this light and setting so unusual and beautiful. Amazing!

This bridge seems to have been painted as a special service to photographers. It's a fine example of 19th century engineering, really beautiful, and you found a perfect angle where you squeezed the two church towers in between the large tree and the eye-catching red lampposts. The crossing diagonals of the red bridge and the dark river also benefit the composition greatly.

Ah, it is a beautiful, newly painted, cute bridge with decorative lamp-posts. Wonderful colors and a neat composition. The pair of church towers in the background is an attractive addition.

This is taken from an excellent POV. The bright red railing looks marvelous against the deep blue sky. An excellent photo accompanied by a good note.
