I had the urge to upload another photo from one of my favorite Polish cities, Wroclaw.
As for this scene, i couldn't really figure out how to photograph that tall light post, so this was really the only way to do it without major lens distortion.
You would never find me photographing light posts here in Canada, they're all pretty boring. But when you visit Europe they certainly stand out. I wonder if most Europeans take them for granted?
Anyways, hope you like the scene.
Thanks for looking

Nice shot from Wrocław. Nice this lamp post, but as like European I take it for granted, it is not very special to me. In my software now I can correct the perspective and I have always doubts, should I do it or not?
here all is perfect. Nice lively scene from the Market Square. as always, oryginal shot.

In response of what Malgo wrote, I'm also European but I can tell you that not everywhere here the light posts are beautiful.
On many places in Spain I've seen wonderful lamp posts.
I've never visited Wroclaw but your pictures of this city are very encouraging to do it.
I like this architecture shot with a beautiful sky as great background.
Best regards, Paul

magnificent shot from Wroclaw.
The combination of its old architecture and so stylish lamp posts shows us nicely how beautiful Wroclaw really is.And what is equally important for your composition-the people and lively atmosphere they create.
Have a nice day

Bonjour, cher Craig,
Très bonne ambiance restituée à travers cette composition.
Le mélange ombre et lumière est parfait ici. Nous pouvons admirer ces façades typiques de la région.
Très bonne présentation.

Love your title, it could easily be a title for a movie about self discovery, or a long inward journey or some such. Bridges of Maddison County, part two....looking at light posts, haha.
It is a nice example, and a great choice of frame for it. Even though there is a busy urban scene brimming with life in the background, the emphasis remains on your subject really well. I guess Europeans probably do take these for granted, somebody remarked to me recently about the ones in some parts of Dublin being quite old and ornate. I guess it goes back to the old advice of look up more!
All the best

You are right about lamposts in Canada. Once you get one, you got them all. These ones are giant and a challenge to fit one in a frame. You did well and the animated and architectural backgroung makes a nice image.

The lamp posts are nice but the buildings are very attractive too. Poland is likely one of my next destinations and I would certainly have Wroclaw on my itinerary. It looks like a very pleasant place with fine architecture, great colours and an interesting street-life.

a shot full of character and beautiful light that makes these imposing lampposts so distinct and wonderful. Certainly do not take them for granted here in my neck of the woods, and have posted a few from Brighton & Hove here on TE. Wroclaw certainly is a stunning City and this shot does it full justice.
Regards - Brian
Can I just say a big thank you to all who were concerned about us southern Englanders during the recent coming of St Jude (the storm). Despite being a bit scary with the wind howling around the house sounding like an approaching train; thankfully I survived as did the huge tree that sits outside my property. B.

Some lamp posts are more equal than others:-) We certainly have some elegant ones here in Europe, though most you wouldn't give a second glance to. These definitely fall into the first category and joined together make an excellent lead-line toward the attractive architecture in the background. I like this animated composition; it is pleasantly lit and has very good colours and sharpness.

Une charmante petite place qui semble très appréciée des gens. On sent l'activité de la ville en même temps que le calme des vacances. L'architecture est des plus jolie et la lumière en souligne bien tous les traits.

Light posts "taken for granted" - keen observation Craig. It is true, some one must have done an album on Light post is Europe. I have seen an exhibition of photographs of Light posts in Gaudi's Barcelona....
The Photograph is so sharp and detailed. The variety of colours, the clear sky and the crowd enjoying a summer afternoon on the Plaza gives a definite mood to the photograph. The facade of the two buildings opposite the camera has been a beautiful capture. And the sequence of 4 light posts - give an idea of the proportions of the place.
Thanks for sharing, Craig.

Very nice shot of the bustling City of Wroclaw . When I first looked at this I thought it was a scene from Amsterdam, the buildings in the background look typically Dutch. Getting back to your lampposts they look original but with modernised light fitting added. Very nice composition managing to get lampposts and a good street scene in with good clarity and sharpness .

Craig, nice shot of what looks like a beautiful city. And it has lampposts in it, too! I noticed that as well in Prague a few years back - the lampposts, and the beautiful lanterns hanging off of houses over the streets. You just never see that in the U.S.

I like those old architectures, I think they are more beautiful and ornate than the modern ones. Nicely captured with good details. Nice to have the people for scale. Well done, tfs.
There is a hot air balloon festival in Las Vegas around this time every year, but if you miss it there are a few balloons company that offers ride almost everyday. Go online for more information about them.

It is not difficult to understand why this is one of your favourite towns in Poland. There seem to be a very relaxed feeling here, with people strolling around in this square with no cars visible at all. Very fine building with interesting architecture.

Now most lamp post in Europe are pretty boring as well and yes, we do take them rather for granted.
But this fine example from Wroclaw is really worthwhile and merits a photo. While the lamp is definitely the main subject here, the city beyond looks equally pleasant.
have a great day

Hi,a particularly beautiful place and the light highlights the architecture wonderfully.Best wishes Wolf.

Wroclaw looms good from this POV. You have done well with the exposure with good light & shade contrast. Loved reading your note as well...and the title of the piicture. The lightposts in Europe in general are ornate & beautiful...this one included.
Have a great Halloween!
