I'm sure we have all come across this when we travel - we visit a city but we have already pre-booked a hotel in another city. And you end up regretting it because the city you're currently in is so beautiful.
Thats what happened to us in Wroclaw, we had pre-booked a hotel in Krakow, so we had to go.
Too bad, because I really wish we could have had at least 1 more full day, maybe 2, to investigate Wroclaw a bit more.
Lots of charm and history, with memorable views everywhere. I hope you enjoy this scene with the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist towering above in the bg.
Thanks for looking

Nice to see my hometown in your picture, thanks for the kind words about Wroclaw. A lovely photograph showing one of the most beautiful places in Wroclaw.

J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé Wroclaw ...où je n'ai passé qu'une seule nuit. Jolie vue de la cathédrale et de ses tours qui se détachent au dessus de la ville.

Hi Craig, Yes. It happens to me too, I book the whole trip and then I realize it would be nice to stay somewhere one or two days longer.
Charming shot from Wrocław, the kayaks give life to the scene. Delight what you write here for some Trekkers for whom Wrocław is or was home.

good reason to come back to Poland someday:)Am I right?
This is really excellent composition showing us the beauty of Wroclaw´s architecture, but also conveying well relaxing, summer atmosphere(great that you captured these canoeists).
And finally the way you processed the image-superb balance between beautiful, vivid colors and contrast.
Wish You a good day

Good Morning Craig,
I always want to stay longer; either the weather wasn't right or there were too many people about or you find a wonderful spot that you didn't know about!
I can understand why you wanted more time here! The combination of water and charming, colourful buildings, makes for interesting photographs!
Here, I love the reflections in the water with the canoers moving through them. Then, of course, the buildings beyond are colourful, have great character and add that depth to complete the composition.
Have a great new week,

Great view of the old cathedral by the river on a nice sunny day. The canoes add a nice touch too. Good composition

Your photo sure do proves very well your note. The light is superb and the two towers stand well over the sky. I like the kayakists on the river adding life in a composition of very high quality.

Thats a beautiful set of spires, so different to those that I see in my everyday, with their fine details and such narrow spires. A beautiful scene by the river, and very cool to have included the happy canoists, (canoers??) as well, bringing a cool touch of life to the scene!
All the best

holmertz (31174) 2013-10-07 6:53
It's a very nice view of the church and the other fine buildings, and the light is gorgeous, but please admit that the canoes (kayaks?) and the people in them were the major reason for taking this picture. :-)
PS I would never pre-book an entire journey, or even any next stop until I knew for sure when I will go there.

There is indeed a very relaxed and pleasant feeling here. This looks like a very beautiful place, well worth a day or two. I hope you will get another opportunity to visit Poland again

Very fine composition. A splendid city as I see. You're right, it's never enough time when you visit a place.

Wow! I can see one more pic from my hometown perfectly well executed. Craig, you always make picture very beautiful. I'm surprised, because I thought you don't have more pictures from Wroclaw. I hope, that you guys see cathedral inside. It is really beautiful. Tfs for sharing you magnificent work Craig. I really love it.

We needed longer in Dublin Craig so I relate totally to what you say in your note. I guess one can always go back! Good light and colours here in this postcard shot. Perhaps not as creative as many of your shots but well managed and attractive none-the-less. Warm regards Rosemary

yes you are right about pre-booking hotel in advance, it has happened me too. My first thought in my mind is when i was in Cape Town and had booked a safari in Botswana two Days later. I was almost ready to cancel the safari just to stay in Cape Town :)
I have not visited Wroclaw but i can see that it looks interesting. Attractive light and colors(and Gert is right about the people in this scene)
Have a nice evening.

How's things? I hope you're both ok. To answer your question, I'm back but still on holiday in my head ;) No nasty magistrate is gonna kill my Italia Vibe!
As to your predicament about the "One more day" thing, maybe you should do what we do, and NEVER book. If you stress about things like that, it's probably not the way to do a holiday, but we like doing it like that as it gives us the freedom to stay where we want for as long as we want. We get to suss out the best spots and go there rather than guess whether they're any good over the internet. And we're not tied down to leaving a place we like because we've booked elsewhere. The downside of this is the stress of not finding anywhere, but honestly, this has never happened. Anyway, just a thought.
To your photo, simply stunning. I love most of all those golden reflections on the water and the people out on it in their kayaks enjoying themselves. I would never have thought to see this in a country like Poland! Beautiful architecture in the BG and lovely strong colours that have been contrasted beautifully.
Nice job, thanks for sharing

A wonderful composition, with the splendid cathedral towers over the rooftops overlooking the river in the foreground, with some nice nuances in their reflections, is an ideal.
A superb light management, sharpness is also perfect to enjoy the picture.
Very pretty color, which gives a lot of life to the image.
Very well done.
Have a good day.

Interesting notes to share, especially your first two lines, which is true as I have experienced before. I guess pre-arrival homework may help this a lot thus we still can stick to our original tight schedule. Also as i normally do now is, to only pre-book my accommodation in the first arrival city thus if need be, I still can extend one or two more days to cover what I may have missed, tx for sharing this..
I cant resist looking at the deep colours there, the jutting pin sharp green spires seem reaching out yelling for attention and the compo is spot on. What a combination of colors, people's interaction, the vibrant water reflections, then add some white colors of the buildings and there we have the result and he rest of of the elements blends and flows harmoniously there. This looks so scenic, subtle, peaceful and inviting so well planned and flawlessly done. A quality shot as alwasy and your notes justifies this. Congrats, TFS.
Hv a great day, Cheers!

davvero una bella vista, il riflesso è magnifico e l'inserimento delle canoe è un vero tocco da maestro.

Yes, as I mentioned in the critique of your recent post from Seattle, time is often a bad factor on journeys. Well, you have a good reason to geth back:) A lovely composition with the two bell towers as a main attraction. The kayaks are a nice addition. Seems like you found a quiet corner of this obvious beautiful city. Beautiful, Craig:) Thanks.
Best regards, Erling
tatadalou (3975) 2013-10-10 13:33
I understand your deception of having no choice but quitting this historical city of Wroclaw. It looks so peaceful. The beauty of this town is strengthened by your framing. Bell towers are well placed in the picture. Great light and sharpness too.
