University of Wroclaw is one of the biggest and most important universities in Poland. There are around 40 000 of students who study there. The University has a rich and long history that dates back to 1702 when Leopold I Habsburg founded the institution.
The main building is the largest baroque building complex of the city, consisting of a former Jesuit college and church. The main building houses the Museum of the University of Wroclaw, the Aula Leopoldina, Oratorium Marianum and the former astronomic observatory, situated in the Mathematical Tower.
