Photographer's Note

The castle is situated in a picturesque park in western district of Wroclaw. It dates back to the 12th century, when it belonged to the Wrocław Piasts. The castle was destroyed in 1428, during the Hussite Wars. In the 16th century the castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style on a plan of a square with round towers at the corners. In the 18th century the north and south wings were joined together forming the structure that exists today.
The castle suffered no damage during the warfare in 1945. The castle is today home to a cultural centre. Events include regular celebrations of a medieval festival for young people, a gallery and many exhibitions of works of young people.
