Train to heaven, a photo from Dolnoslaskie, West

Photographer's Note

This is the largest monument in Poland, called “Train to heaven”. The author of this project is Andrzej Jarodzki. The installation was set up in spring 2010. The old locomotive, bought from the museum in Jaworzyna Slaska, is 30 meters long and weighs nearly 80 tons. It is mounted vertically on a strong foundation. Two cranes were used to set the locomotive. The concept of the installation refers to the rich tradition of the locomotive industry in the area of Wroclaw.

En quittant Wroclaw, j'avais vu le char russe mais pas ce train. La "sculpture" est un peu particulière mais pour le moins originale et tu en as réalisé une bonne et intéressante photo.

is it in the city centre? outside the city?

c'est une locomotive volante comme une fusée qui va partir vers le ciel, quel captage et iamge fantastique dans ce ciel bleu cette vielle locomotive très bien mise en évidence, je pense qu'on ne peut pas la rater, sueprbe.

a to dopiero cos nowego:)Swietny pomysl jak wykorzystac ten stary parowoz.Naprawde orginalny i przykuwajacy uwage Pomnik.Znakomicie skadrowana scena.Do tego super kontrast,swiatlo i piekne,zywe kolory.

Wow that's heavy. Yes I can imagine the foundation work needed, especially as that loco stands on an angle. Those rust tones show nicely on sunshine.

I like it! There used to be an artwork similar to this in Texas but mostly of old Cadillacs. Nicely captured with good lighting and dof with sharp details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

mal einmal ein Denkmal, das nicht nur groß ist, sondern dessen Sinn auch sofort ins Auge springt.
Hoffentlich ist das Fundament auch wirklich stark genug!
