Castle Książ is one of the best-preserved castles of Lower Silesia, in the extreme south-west of Poland. The structure enjoys a spectacular setting, perched on a 395 m high rocky promontory and surrounded on three sides by Pełcznica river. The castle was built by Bolko I, the Duke of Świdnica and Jawor, at the end of XIII century. It was subsequently acquired by Bohemian kings and, later, Hungarian kings and underwent numerous reconstructions. The current name of the castle is its fifth. During World War II, the castle served as headquarters of nazis under Todt and later, as headquarters of Soviet troops.

The present complex, restored for the last time in 1960, serves as an exhibition hall, venue for balls and banquets and a hotel (the hotel offers 127 accommodation places).
