Photographer's Note

I saw this woman sitting on a bench in the Old town of Warsaw and snapped a photo. She was seated in such a nice place and I was also attracted by the way her clothes relatively well matched the wall behind her.

Taking this photo was a matter of seconds before somebody would step in front of the camera, as this was a very busy place. It was only afterwards that I registered that she was actually reading and had found a perfect location outside the Museum of Literature, dedicated to the Polish "national poet", Adam Mickiewicz (1798-1855). I get a strong feeling that she wasn't reading his most famous work, the epic poem Pan Tadeusz, but at least she was reading, not tweeting.

The museum deals with all kinds of literature, not just the work of Mickiewicz. That very day a new exhibition had opened, which according to the poster in the window would offer a "British treasure island picnic for children" (if the Google translation is to be trusted).
