You saw already beautiful photos from Si nger's Festival made by Leszek. I go to Singer's festival every year and then post some shots on TE. Every year the interest in this festival is bigger. I have Jewish friends who take part in it showing their paintings, ceramics, telling about the written books or films. So it is a good opportunity to meet them. This year I saw the performance in jidish with the main role played by Szymon Szurmiej, the director of the Jewish Theater in Warsaw, he is ninety years old and still very active.
After the war, the whole Jewish area was destroyed after Ghetto uprising and only one street survived, Próżna street. I used to live only few meters only a few meters away. There were many small shops and workshops there and i went there very often. There were different idea what to do with it and finally during more than 60 years it fell into ruin. it is brought to life only in festival time. And this year I was dumbfounded that they made a one of the street sides new.
On my try of blue hour shot you can see the old corner, abandoned house with the photos of former residents, and the new one. My feelings are rather mixed. It looks great, all white and new, but with the expensive restaurants, for instance pizzeria, it list the former character.
Festival of Jewish Culture in Warsaw - "Singer's Warsaw" is an annual celebration of Jewish culture that has been held in Warsaw since 2004.
The Festival includes Jewish (both Hebrew and Yiddish) theater, music, films, exhibits and expositions. It attempts to recreate Jewish culture from the period of interwar Poland, complete with historical buildings and atmosphere. Regular features include kosher food (along with instructions as to how to prepare it in one's own kitchen), dancing, songs, crafts, ceramics and posters. Numerous workshops, discussion groups and seminars are also held on topics related to Yiddish culture.
The festival is organized by the Polish-Israeli-American Shalom Foundation, which began in 1988 on the initiative of Gołda Tencer, an actress and producer of the Jewish Theatre in Warsaw. The purpose of the foundation is the popularization of Jewish culture in Poland, and the remembrance of its Jewish communities.
The first annual festival was held in 2004 on the 100th anniversary of the birthday of Isaac Bashevis Singer (note that Singer's actual birth date is uncertain).
The logo of the festival consists of a combination of a fiddler on a rooftop (to symbolize Polish Jewish culture) and that of the Warsaw Syrenka (to symbolize Warsaw). It was designed by Lech Majewski.

Ciao e buona serata

Chyba jednak przed przyszłorocznym festiwalem odwiedze te okolice.

Sorry for my late reply as usual.
This is a little different from your daily style, but so impressive and moody image. Delicate light effcet adds so fantatsic mood. Ya I know the sad history of that.
Thanks a lot for your sharing with nice shot and good note, and have a good day! Takero

A very fine and attractive picture. The illuminated building really stands out against the blue hour sky. Your note is also very interesting with very good links attached.

wyjatkowe miejsce, musze zobaczyc gdzie to w ogole jest w stosunku do starego miasta bo nie wiem. Jakbym kiedys pojechal do Warszawy to koniecznie musze odwiedzic. Ciekawy kontrast tych dwoch kamiennic. Ludzie dodaja uroku pomimo ze ja unikam tlumow tutaj dodaja poczucia ze cos waznego badz ciekawego musi sie tam dziac.
Bardzo atmosferyczne blue hour,

pokazałaś miejsce, gdzie mogłam być. Wśród tłumu, moi najbliżsi. Miejsce też jest mi bliskie. Mój tata błąkał się w czasie wojny tutaj z inną tożsamością dopasowaną do sytuacji.
Postaram się tu być w przyszłym roku.
Serdeczne pozdrowienia. E.
