Photographer's Note

Willow groves in the mist for the peasants were the epitome of unclean power. It was believed that the green-mermaids hanging by the hair on the willows by the water, and that the devil fell in love with the dry willows. Dry means - incapable of regeneration.

Our painters often painted willow, especially Symbolists - Wyspianski, Malczewski, Mehoffer, and the most prominent photographers such as Wladyslaw Bu≥hak and Edward Hartwig passionately photographed them.
