Photographer's Note

Visitors to Wawel Hill in Kraków descending back to the city.

Wawel Hill is the heart and soul of Polish history and culture, seat of the Polish kings for hundreds of years from the 11th century, before the capital was moved to Warsaw. In the cathedral next to the castle most Polish kings are buried, as well as President Lech Kaczyński who died in the plane crash in Smolensk, Russia, in 2010.

My intention was not to show a regular postcard from the top of Wawel Hill. There are already so many such photos on TE and elsewhere on the net. I was more attracted by this view that I found unexpectedly when approaching the hill. If you are desperate for a postcard you can have a look at the workshop.

Here is a larger version.
