Blast from the past …!!!
I don’t have to explain WHO that fellow is to my Polish compatriots…
(Even the kids in the kindergarten know this figure !)
But, for the rest of you, folks…
It’s a legend… It’s an Icon, it’s a symbol of everything that Polish, from Poland, about Poland, with Poland, by Poland…
He's a Krakowiak !!!
(A man from Cracow' region)
The most beloved, adored, commemorated of all of the symbols of nationalism…
In music, poetry, wars, songs, paintings, literature…
Proud, brave, iconic, skilled, artistically inclined…
A Polish version of a superman…
And when I saw this guy , some 30 years (!!!) ago, sitting down there, in Cracow’ Rynek ( market) - I couldn’t restrained myself…
Who would …?
Oh, mighty God… (:-))))))))
Who ? –( I've asked myself…) Who would pay this 80 years old (?) man, dressed him up in the authentic, folklore dress (sukmana), and let him sit down there, among the crowd of tourists to symbolize the Polish heritage ?
LOL LOL LOL
He was observing me, when I was clowning foolishly around with my Practica - smiling gently all of the time, and I ( finally) run to him and gave him a strong hug… And then – another one …
A little bit of tear in the corner of my eye...
No national symbol (ever) gave me so much feelings…
Not even the holy paintings, not the monumental sculptures, not the patriotic hymns and poems, and prayers and all that crap we all know since our birth…
That little, shrunk with age fella down there, with the face of that late Stan Laurel (:-)))))...
Oh, brother – where art thou now ?
Nowadays, the city of Krakow is flooded by tourists…
And, if HE is still around (He must be !!! He was only eighty back then !!!) – please, give him a hug …
Say few words, shake his hand… Snap a picture of him..
I did !!!
In 1978 !!!
Lack of geometry (?)...
Dirt and scratches…
Out of focus...
Poor bokeh... (:-))))
The silliness of this shot...
What can I say…???
Enough reasons for this post to be ignored by the true photography experts on the site... And, there are thousands of them on TE...
Aren't we lucky enough, guys ? (:-)))
Another symbol from the times when photography wasn't invented - yet...

Zobaczyłam go, poznałam i zakochałam się raz jeszcze od nowa lecz tak samo gorąco :)))
Krakowiaczek cija - och, jak on cija, choć niby nic nie gada :))
... i natychmiast dałam nura we własną zaprzeszłą przeszłość.

Not a Stan Laurel! A Totň! And if you don't know who was Totň ( one of the best italian comical actor of the past) go to Internet and have a look. Okay?

Hey! You have already enumerated all the flaws of your photo! What's left for me to say? The good points!!! :)
I will take you at your word that he is a Krakowiak dressed in an authentic folklore uniform. An interesting one indeed! He seems to be totally out of this world, in a dreamy world in fact (look at his eyes!). The day to day life is going on around him, and he is smiling calmly, with his peacock feather on top of his hat.
You know, he seems so much from another world that he might indeed be still alive. At least, it is the case with this photo...
I've read somewhere that you had a "dated style". LOLS!!! Bring us your old photos, George. Some do appreciate them a lot!!
