Photographer’s Note

The name Calvary (polish- Kalwaria) often refers to sculptures or pictures representing the scene of the crucifixion of Jesus, or a small wayside shrine incorporating such a picture. It also can be used to describe larger, more monument-like constructions, essentially artificial hills often built by devotees.

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska it is the best known sanctuary in Poland, after Jasna Gora in Czêstochowa. The Mannerist architectural and park landscape complex and pilgrimage park in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska were entered in 1999 onto the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

Hello Aleksander,
You made a good composition of this. The picture is nicely framed by the wall on the right side and the monks coming towards us give a depth and balance to the photo. Colours, lighting and sharpness are all good.

Witaj Aleksandrze,
By³em te¿ i tutaj spedzaj±c mile kilkudniowe wakacje w 2003 roku. Wiem, ¿e mia³em wówczas k³opot z dobrym kadrowaniem tego obiektu w ca³o¶ci i te¿ najczêstsze kadry by³y po przek±tnej. Niebo pod chmurk± wiêc ¶wiat³o ³adnie rozproszone, ale w zamian nad g³owami bardzo jasno. Bardzo ³adby kadr i jak zawsze ³adne wykonanie. Kadr ¿ywy dziêki postaciom mnichów dziarsko krocz±cym zapewne do klasztoru...
