Hi dear friends,
a postcard from the Bryggen, in Bergen, today,
probably this is the most photographed spot in Norway, ...I know, ...there are so many pictures of these lovely houses in TE, ...so... why another one? ...well.... why not?

I Hope that not bored you :o)

about the spot:
Bryggen (Norwegian for the Wharf), also known as Tyskebryggen (the German Bridges (ship wharf)) is a series of Hanseatic commercial buildings lining the eastern side of the fjord coming into Bergen, Norway. Bryggen is on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites. The name has the same origin as the Flemish city of Brugge.
The city of Bergen was founded in 1070. In 1360 a Kontor of the Hanseatic League was established there, and as the town developed into an important trading centre, the wharfs were improved. The administrative buildings of Bryggen housed clerks from many areas, especially Germany. The warehouses were filled with goods, particularly fish from northern Norway, and cereal from Europe.
Throughout history, Bergen has experienced many fires, since, traditionally, most houses were made from wood. This was also the case for Bryggen, and as of today, around a quarter dates back to the time after 1702, when the older wharfside warehouses and administrative buildings burned down. The rest predominantly consists of younger structures, although there are some stone cellars that date back to the 15th century.
Parts of Bryggen were destroyed in a fire in 1955. This area was used for the construction of Bryggen museum containing archeological remains, plus some old-style wooden houses, these being the six leftmost houses on the panoramic picture below. Controversially, a brick hotel was also raised on the premises, which is seen behind these six houses.
Today, Bryggen houses tourist, souvenir, and gift shops, in addition to restaurants, pubs and museums.

Hello Fabio,

A nice postcard there. I do not know this place, I only visited Lofoten islands in Norway, but with your side framing, you succeeded to evidence the diversity and the beauty of the norway houses. Here the point of view made the differences versus frontal point of view.

Yves.

HI FAbio,
It could be the most photographed but I've never seen them from this point of view. Am I right my friend you cropped the pedestrians that is why the bottom of the picture is on the eye level???
TFS and have anice weekend!

Hello Fabio,

Très bonne idée pour présenter de façon originale et réussie ce lieu déja très connu et photographié.
Ces façades de bois superbement colorées agrémentées d'enseignes s'inscrivent dans une belle perspective.
Cela donne envie d'y aller voir!
bravo.TFS.
Cordialement.

bravo
Silvio

Hello Fabio,

The tight framing and tele compression add impact to this capture of Bryggen!
As you say, what new can another image add unless some creativity is put in the work...
Sharp fine details and the rich colours are well reproduced!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Your pictures are never boring, Fabio. You always have original compositions and this tight one is wonderful. The facades got so narrow that what stands out are the animals at the window :-) Beautiful.
Ciao,
ric

Ciao, Fabio.

hi Fabio,
love this photo - the colours, the textures, the feeling that the houses are not exactly straight, the accent the animal figures create a cheerful feeling despite what feels like an overcast day. the tight framing works well to exclude unnecessary distractions, this is a great shot.

with best regards,
Kristine

Hello Fabio

I see your great picture a little too late and I can't add anything new about the perfect quality of your shot, but I want to tell you I like it a lot !
The way you've framed to bring the colorful facades out is really effective, and the fine sharpness reveals many details and the impressive colors.

You can't bother us with such a beauty !

Molto bella questa "infilata" di vecchie e colorate facciate in legno, fa molto...Bergen..per l'appunto! ;)
Ottima luce, qualità e stupenda costruzione dell'immagine.
ciao

Hello Fabio,
Yes the Bryggen is photographed very often, but we don't get bored.
Your cropping is interesting. If you know Bryggen, you can recognise it with just this kind of cropping.
The legend says it rains 360 days a year in Bergen. Well, it looks like it wasnt sunny for you.

Ciao Fabio

Excellent colours and perspective here !
Nice view of these wooden houses and fine details

TFS and greetings
Aires

Hi Fabio

A beautiful tight composition with vibrant colors. It's very sharpened and the contrast between textures is interesting (the shining first shop side by side with the old wooden house) but my attention is focused on the unicorn and the deer. I guess there is an history behind these signs and I wonder which one.
Regards,
Marine

Ciao Fabio,
