Vardo is a port of call of the coastal express (Hurtigruten), the first on the South bound trip. The town is situated on an island, 2 km off themainland, in the Barents Sea. It is linked by a tunnel to the mainland and is the terminal of the E75 that starts in Crete.

Groeten,
John.

Hallo John!
I remember this "skyline" of this easternmost point of Norway very well. I like these colourful houses up there in the north very much and your photo shows them in a wonderful light. A special place ...
Greetings from again summerly Siegen!
Frank

Hello John:

Beautiful, and simply making this wonderfully beautiful, full of tranquility.

I love to and from a broad viewpoint, has captured a beautiful landscape, colorful, framed within a beautiful composition.

Balance in the frame, fine shades and a proper handling of enlightenment. Congratulations.

Greetings from Colombia

John

I would have expected it to be more green. Your POV from a boat works well. The brightly coloured houses add plenty of colour to the image. What are the spheres on the hilltop?

Hi John. Very nice contrast between peaceful, Norwegian town and somewhat threatening technology above in the hills. One can imagine submarines and fighter planes in the neighbourhood.
Good picture, full of strange emotions, at least for me.
All the best, have a good weekend (good vacations?).
Chris

Hi John
Good to see your trip goes as planned. Up there in the North East passing the small town Vardø - a place I last visited many years ago around 1975. Good capture from the ship. (ehh.. for the HAVE STAR rader domes on top they are still in full swing and no leftovers of the cold war pr. as today. This is just one link (of many) dealing with the theme:
