At latitude of 62 degrees North, Rřros Mining Town is situated between 620 and 675 metres above sea level and is surrounded by bare mountains that clearly define the outer edge of the town's urban landscape. The town has a typical inland climate with cool summers and harsh winters. Mining started here in 1644. A smelting works was built on the river Hitterelven and a settlement grew up on the gentle slopes of the valley, initially on the west bank of the river, spreading later to the east bank too. The town was burnt down by Swedish troops in 1678 and again in 1679, but the mining town was quickly rebuilt and has never burnt since then. However, the smelting house has burnt down several times. The same copper-mining company, Rřros Kobberverk, ran the copper-works for 333 years from 1644 until it went bankrupt in 1977.

The Mining Town contains wooden buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Malmplassen with the smelting house "Smeltehytta" (now the Rřros Museum) comprises the heart of the world heritage site, surrounded by the black slag heaps and the large white-washed masonry church built in 1784.

On the photo the way to the slag heaps behind the museum. The town is very imporessive and beautiful. In WS the colour version.

Nooo, to jest piękne, nostalgiczne, w cudownej sepii, z klasyczną perspektywą no i co najważniejsze - z elementem ludzkim.
Pozdrawiam!
PS. Wersja B&W ciekawsza.

Hello Malgorzata,
I like colour, but this time the sepia version is very well chosen. It creates a feeling of going back int time. The perspective is good, with diagonal lines converging on the horizon, where the man gets into focus. A fine composition.
Regards,
Gert

Witam!
A nie lepiej było by tu w kolorach? Ciekawe budynki. Fajna perspektywa. Zawsze mi się podobała to trawa na dachach ich budynków.
Pozdrowionka.
Marek

Witaj,
Czyste powietrze pozbawione zbędnej wilgoci i ostre słoneczko daja takie niesamowite widoki.

Interesujace miejsce i informacje. Ladna perspektywa, chociaz fasady sa w cieniu to detale czytelne. No i poprosze o te chociaz 5% mniej ostrosci.
Pozdr. Al.

witaj Małgosiu
piękne, obie wersje są fascynujące,aczkolwiek jednak sepia przeważa,idealne w każdym calu,
pozdrawiam ciepło

Ciao Malgorzata,
bellissima, per il tipo di ambietazione l'uso del sepia e' perfetto sembra una foto di inizo 900.
ottimo lavoro
Giorgio

Lubię monochromatyczne zdjęcia. bardziej wtedy widać myśl fotografującego i nie rozprasza nas kolor. Tutaj świetne ujęcie starych domów , ciekawie schodząsię linie i ten człowiek odchodzący gdzieś w dal.

Hello Malgorzata,

Nice to see you had a great time in Norway, come back soon!
You for sure came back home with many fine photographs...
And Rřros has many fine motifs, you can spend days up there photographing!
This is a fine composition with a good sense of depth, showing a part of the mining history...

Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Malgorzata, Your shot shows off the small but handsome and well-proportioned houses very well. I like the effect of the dark 'V' of the houses in shadow against the almost featureless road and sky and the figure of the man is very well placed.
An interesting and attractive shot.
Best wishes....Maggie

I was there in May of this year and it was raining and snowing, but it is a nice town. Your sepia version gives a retro look to the picture.
Regards
John
