The breakfast elk
I was sitting down for breakfast at my mountain cottage when I looked out of the window to see a passing young elk.
Not so big this one probably 2 years old who have been rejected by the mother after 2 seasons, which is normal.
I can't tell if it is a she or he - but I hope for a she. This because an elk cow will probably be staying in this area and later meet an elk bull and have some calves within the next years.
This is good because it will mean that I have a chance to see her often around the cottage. At least for as long it takes before the family is shot down by the hunters who usually shows up each autnum in the hunting season.

Daily life in this region - not a city life but some other qualities to enjoy...

Hallo Jack!
I never have had an elk in my garden while breakfast ... ;-)
A wonderful photo of a wonderful scenery. The elk nearly is drowned by all this green. Your hut must be situated on a great place.
Greetings from warm and sunny Germany!
Frank

Hello Jack,

What pleasant when one can see through you windows, splendid nature with this elk as inhabitant.
A pity that the hunters these lovely animals kill, hunters are people without heart, long time ago must one kill for meat, but today alone for the sport!
I find your picture very well, with these joung elk as subject.
Thanks for sharing Jack.

Best regards,
John.

Hello Jack,

Tu habites en pleine nature ! C'est une bonne occasion que tu as bien saisie. Cet animal semble perdu dans cette nature luxuriante. Jolie prise !

Hello Jack,

A lovely bucolic setting, with lush vegetation. The young elk blends in nicely. Your insightful note is both engaging and poignant. One aspect I like about the image is the immediacy — shot on 23 June, posted on the 24th.

Warm regards, Jack,

Bulent

Hi Jack,
Wild looking landscape with many tones of green filling the frame. Sure a place where elks like to wander around. Nice encounter. I think a male one would have visible antlers in June, so I guess your wish became true.
Kari

Hi, Jack. The elk looks as it is part of the green surroundings. It is well placed in the picture and attracts the attention. It must be interesting to be able to watch animals from your breakfast table.
I wish you a good evening,
Philippe

Hello Jack .
I do understand why you enjoy this scenery and your note is warm and devoted !
This sight is outstanding , but I can tell you that I live 5 minute's walk from the city , but have the forest in my "back yard" and sometimes , early in the morning or at dusk , I can see deer right under my balcony , so in a way I feel lucky too :o)
Have a nice weekend !
Kindest regards
Dorte

Hallo Jack,

I was not so lucky and I haven't seen any animals in Norway , no elk, no rein deer, only one fox. It must be wonderful place of your if the elks visit you. Nice forest.

Regards

Małgorzata

P,S. It is a pity I haven't read your invitation earlier. It would be great to visit you. We went through Valdres, I suppose somewhere nearby. M.
