Photographer’s Note

Reindeer are normal in the streets as in the mountains of arctic Norway. During the summer big herds of reindeer flock to the coast to get out of the way of the myriads of mosquitos in the inland plains of Finnmark. These deer are about 1 km from the centre of the beautiful village of Berlevåg. The photo was taken at 10.30. At this time of the year there is sun all day and all night. In the background you see the Coastal Cruiser the Hurtigruten, which lands every evening in Berlevåg.

Hei Ivar!
You have captured the typical warm light of the midnight sun very well here. I like the way you have included Hurtigruten in the blurry background. Its giving depth and tells us that these animals live close to sea and people. Fine composition, I like the low position of the reindeer. Perhaps you could have included a little bit more in the bottom, just not to cut the feet of them.

This is an interesting scene for me: a combination of nature and man, but with reindeer. :-) I have never seen these animals in person, and the ones in your photo are lovely; I like that they are different colors, and they are bathed in the golden sunlight. Good job catching the boat in the background at the right moment, too.
