Photographer’s Note

This is Tromsø, seen from the 1238 m high mountain Tromsdalstinden.

Some facts about Tromsø from Wikipedia:
" The population of Tromsø municipality is 63,596, and the urban area, Norway's ninth most populous, is home to 53,622 people.[1]

Most of Tromsø, including the city centre, is located on the small island of Tromsøya in the county of Troms, 400 km inside the arctic circle. The island is connected to the mainland by the Tromsø Bridge, and to the island of Kvaløya by the Sandnessund Bridge. The city is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream, with an average January temperature of -4 °C, but it's still quite cool in the summer, with a 24-hour average of 12 °C in July.

The city centre of Tromsø contains the highest number of old wooden houses in North Norway, the oldest house dating from 1789. The Arctic Cathedral, a modern church from 1965, is probably the most famous landmark in Tromsø. The city is a cultural centre for its region, several festivals taking place in the summer. The largest football team in the city, Tromsø I.L, plays in the Norwegian Premier League."

Hi

I have to make up my mind and visit Norway. Nature there is at its most dramatic stage and your picture witnesses it.
I like the wide view on the city and the nature around it.

The mountains you have captured here are awesome! I have seen Norway but only where they bring the tourist not this breathtaking scene. Thank you for sharing it.

Hi Jon,
A gorgeous view. The compo is great, with all those different layers and the patterns of the houses that combine very nicely with the patterns of the snow.
Maybe it is a bit too blue, but I guess that it makes it realistic.
It's hard to believe that it isn't terribly freezing in Winter after seeing this June view.

Hi Jon,
yes maybe a bit too bluish, I think a little work on "levels" could help that and bring out some more colours in the town part. Striking aeral view, it's a bit like a bird took this one:-), from what I read in your note the town must be beautiful, all those wooden houses...
Very well composed, makes one feel like being there with that wide wide view. Your other view of it is lovely, could I rent that balcony of yours ?:-) Lucky man.

This is an amazing landscape. Sea, hills, mountains and glaciers all together. Not so common in southern Europe. Very nice POV and light. Nature in Norway is fantastic. This year I did not go to far north, but I will do in a future holiday for sure !

I really like the wide view of your hometown and surrounding mountains. It is a wonderful region and makes me wish to visit Norway. For the photo itself i believe it is lacking a bit of contrast. The colours are good but a bit pale. I have tried a quick WS and I hope you do not mind it.

Olá Jon, what a breathtaking view! I could be looking at this image for a long time, absorving all the details. Nice mix bettween water, land and mountains. Love the pattern created by the white snow. Thanks for showing the beauty of your place.

This is wonderful, the view is beautiful, but it seems too bright, though the contrast is fine in my opinion. Don'be afraid to let some of the shadows go dark, with such variable light, it's difficult to expose it properly without filters, especially with the presence of snow. The workshops show some good variations. I will upoad me version (taken at much lower elevation near the cableway terminus) in the future. There was too much snow to walk to Tromsdaltinden.
