25/07/2007 Tromsoe
We arrive at Tromsoe. A city on an island, nothing special in Norway. Except perhaps this church, which is not on the island.

It is named the “Arctic cathedral”, although is only one parish church. On the basis of plan of Jan Inge Hovig, it was built out of concrete in 1965. It is also sometimes called “the Norwegian opera” in reference to that of Sydney.

At 8pm the sun was quite down, it is no more the time of the midnight sun at Tromsoe, there was some clouds in the sky and I have wait that a sun ray was just on the church.

Hi Jacques,
I must comment on the picture quality here.
Details are razor sharp.
The deep shadow on the slope helps to nicely 'push out' the white architecture in the mid-ground.
Very good colours too.

The lighting in the photo is outstanding! The contrast created by the areas of sun and shadow are great. Your composition is excellent balancing the church with the harbor building.

Bonjour Jacques,
C'est assez percutant comme style, audacieux meme et bien loin de la petite eglise norvegienne typique en bois qu'on a plus l'habitude de voir, beau sujet bien mis en valeur par ce fort contraste.

Salut Jacques,
Une église à l'architecture étonnante, joliement éclairée ici par une lumière forte et qui se détache bien sur le fond sombre de la montagne boisée. J'aime ton POV et ton cadrage un peu large qui permet également de voir l'environnement dans laquelle elle se situe.

joli cadrage pour la cathédrale et bonne exposition.
C'est la première image ou je découvre de la verdure devant la cathédrale.

I would like to thank you for presenting this so we may get to see this realy beauty. everything, everywhere is so neat and clean I like this about the photo. Also , the raod and containers on the right help the colorfullnes of the frame. It s definitely not advertising, the Volvo flag ,which I am glad to see because it represents Scandinavia so it fits the concept.
