Photographer’s Note

In the short arctic summer everything comes to life. The colours of the mountains changes and all the flowers and wildlife flourish in a big explosion of life...

Fossils from trees and even dinosaurus, can be found around Svalbard.
Back in the early days Svalbard had a tropical climate with lots of vegetation. It is believed that the islands was pushed north from a postion near Central Europa or even equator.
The cut off shape of the Svalbard mountains witness that the islands was former under the sea level and has raised from the seabed.
