This is the old pharmacy in Alesund Norway. The building is built in the Art Nouveau style as is the rest of Alesund. Alesund is a city of approximately 40,000 inhabitants and is located on the northwest coast of Norway between Bergen and Trondheim.
On the night of January 23, 1904, the town was the scene of the Ålesund Fire, one of the most terrible of the many conflagrations to which Norwegian towns, once built largely of wood, have been subjected. Practically the whole town was destroyed. After a period of planning, the town was rebuilt in stone, brick and mortar in Jugendstil/Art Nouveau, the architectural style of the time, that is famous for its turrets, spires and decorative ornamentation. |

Hi Asa,
How striking.... I would have never guessed it was a pharmacy... More like a church or something... But then again, church and pharmacy are so close in the meaning of our life, trying to extend it... :)

Hi Asa,
beautiful building captured with beautiful colors in a real life shot. The people are just important in this composition. The problem of fire is also well known here, as there were several fires in former times which burned down most of the village where I live. The sky was not your friend that day.
