[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an early morning photo taken from the Jewel of the Seas while cruising the Sognefjord toward Flam. The main deck of the ship was all but vacant at this early hour making for a very quiet and beautiful time.
The Sognefjord is the second largest fjord in the world after Scoresby Sund on Greenland, and the largest in Norway. Situated in Sogn og Fjordane in Western Norway, its mouth is about 72km (45mi) north of Bergen, and it stretches 203km (126mi) inland to the town of Skjolden.
The fjord reaches a maximum depth of 1,308 m below sea level. The greatest depths are found some way inland: near its mouth, the bottom rises abruptly to a sill about 100m below sea level. The average width of the main branch of the Sognefjord is about three miles. Cliffs surrounding the fjord rise almost sheer from the water to heights of 1000m and more.

Asa,

something really interesting about this superimposition of the ship and the mountains .. I love the way the sun is creeping down the mountain.

Hello, Asa!
Very nicely catched landscape with well set balance between the illuminated mountains and the pool hidden in shadow. Beautiful place... as the whole Norway is!
regards,
Greg

Hi Asa
Lovely place. I like the green mountains. Interesting border between light and shadow.

This is an incredible shot, I love the colors. I looked at it, and it took me about 10 minutes to realize its not snow. Could you tell me a little about the camera? Like the price. Thanks

Hi Asa,
Very interesting POV that shares the luxurgy of the great linner and the natural beauty of the fjord walls. The shadows give lovely varying shades of green that contrast nicely with the white decks of this imposing ship.
Regards, Tom

Hej Asa,
This is an absurd situtation. Great composition! Its hard to belive this is on a huge passanger craft cruising so close to land.

Hello Asa,

This reminds me so much of our recent cruise up The Inside Passage, from Vancouver to Alaska: breathtaking scenery, so much to photograph! You have captured the essence of this Norwegian fjord, from the decks of the cruise ship, very well.

Best wishes,
Jeff
