Photographer’s Note
The Flåm Railway is one of the worlds steepest railway lines on normal gauge. The gradient is 55/1000 on almost 80% of the line, i.e. a gradient of one in eighteen. The journey runs from Flåm to Myrdal covering 20km and assending 2838 feet. The train passes through 20 tunnels and pass countless waterfalls and magnificent scenery. At Myrdal you can connect to the Bergen - Oslo railway.

Hi Asa,
I love trains and I have taken this one loooong ago, it has an interesting green color to fit in the so green norwegian surroundings, I like how the low angle maximizes it, agree with the WS in cropping the too important foreground, I'd add a small crop to the right up to the white pole to eliminate the white parked Renault Laguna.
Have a nice day,
JEan-Yves

Hi Asa,
It's a great little railway, I've heard. Also engine design looks original. The background looks magnificient. Could be cropped a little from bottom and right. Strong sharpening and compression make overall appearance a bit restless.

This is a very clear image. Positioning of the engine is very appropriate. And the mountain at the background is simply great.

Hi Asa
A very excellent and different way to present that mountain side - your use of a vanishing point made by the train gives us great perspective - thanks for sharing - my compliment.

Hi Asa
I like this railway shot. Good DOF and exposure. I would have cropped a little off the bottom of the picture and removed the shadow of the post on the left. I have a worked on the image and I am now attempting to send it as a workshop. Mike

Good PoV and interesting very TE note. For the compo, I think taking out the sky, and some of the foreground would set the train off better against the dramatic backdrop.

Hi Asa,
Having quickly browsed your portfolio, I chose this one
- probably for the reason I'm sort of in a holiday mood
already, even though it will take another 4 weeks before
I set off.
Nice perspective created by the curving railtrack. I also
like the connection between the mountain rocks and the
shingles between the tracks, and the green colour of the
train and greenery of the mountain.
Cheers,
Robi
