Photographer’s Note
In the shortest days in the end of the year, here in the north, the sun rise at 10.30 and sets at 15 (10.30AM - 3PM) (North of the Polar Circle you don't see the sun at all!)
The short time the sun gives us light, it never rise high above the horizon, so the shadows will be long and the colour of the sunlight will change from hour to hour.
Like here where the sun plays with some shadows and colours near the little lake by our cottage.
In the background the mist is still laying over the river.
Hope you like it!

The shadows are great. It won't look this good were it not for your smart composition. As suual, the colors are simply stunning. Very good capture.

Wow! I love snow shots like this. this photo has a lot to offer; the shadows on the distant field, the mist on the right, and the sun just peaking throught the trees.
Very well done!
Its snowing here today, so I'll take some photos too!

What's there to do but like it, Jack? It's a great capture of this very special light. The play of shadows is beautifully seen here, and is enhanced by your choice of composition that "strategically" places the shadow-casting trees on the left, and a view into the vast winter landscape on the right. Very well done.
We're also in the middle of getting some snow right now, although the amount may still be pathetic by Norwegian standards ;-)

I wish i was here. What a beautiful shot. Superb colors and a perfect composition. Mabey you can crop a little bit of the threes on the right. Or you you can make that part a little bit lighter.

Very nice image Jac. i like to see the clouds in the background. it looks cold.. You were smart to hide the sun behind the tree.

I guess it is not easy to have this low sun all the winter, but the advantage is a very soft light and great shooting condition. I like the results of this low sun - very soft tones and shadows. Beautiful endless frozen plains. I like it. Well done, Jack.

Hi Jack, beautiful shot. I simply love the glitter in the snow. Somehow, the snow don't look white, could it be the under exposure by the meter?

This is like a painting. Theinterplay of light and shadow is amazing. The trees in the foreground lead us to the second row in the background and so down to the river with its fogbank. Turely beautiful, a pleasure fore the eye.

Your work is getting better and better, Jack! This is simply stunning. It must be the winter, when Norweigans come into their own! The composition and depth of field are so effective. You chose the right spot for this image with the sun behind the tree and you shooting roughly towards the sun. I just want to keep looking at this image.

Of course, the strongest feature of this shot are the shadows. And the way they point to one sourse (or come frome one sourse) - the sun.

Amazing, Jack. "just" amazing - the light, thestructure of the snow, the looong shadows.
You hided the camera perfectly in the shadow of the tree.

Jack, I never tire of your winter shots;first because you have a wonderful eye for winter's play of light and shadows in many of your photos...and second because your scenes of Norway are amazingly similiar to our landscape here in Quebec, Canada.
Wonderful composition with the crisp sharpness in the foreground and the misty fog in the background.

Really wonderful Jack, one can feel how you're now used to photograph the winter landscapes. Great use of the light, I'm never tired of admiring the glittering of the snow in your pics.

You have such beautiful photos...... but so cold looking, (I am cold in kathmandu, it is 63f here).....It is strange to think plants can live with so little light in winter....

Guess I'm not the only one who likes it. Your picture has earned a lot of points and it deserves it. I especially love the fog at the right side; good detail

Excellent photo. The colours are fantastic: pristine white and pinkish colour of snow and a smooth blue sky. The fog layer in the distance adds some mysteriousness to the shot.

Belle composition où le soleil rasant fait apparaitre de jolies zones d'ombres dans cette neige vierge, vraiment de chouettes endroits à découvrir pour des gens habitant plus au sud, en Belgique par exemple, ce qui est mon cas.
