Photographer’s Note
This is my favorite place in Norway. It is called Kjerag and it is located near Stavanger on the south west coast. On the rock you are 1000 meter above the fjord.

This is an amazing locale. However, the pose of the couple and the straight-on camera angle has a "Me at ____" snapshot quality, which I don't like. This is a decent photo, but I long to see a more original image of this highly original spot. I'd certainly like to see something with a wide-angle that shows the dramatic 1000m drop.

What a spot! I agree with Sam's comments, however this is still a good shot in my book.

Unforgetable view! We missed it again last year, maybe next time.
Nikki must be very confident to join you on that rock!... ;-)

What a location... Seeing those folks on that rock gives me a shiver. I think in hindsight you probably could have chose a bit better perspective, but given the drop, I might have been hesitant myself. I believe cropping a bit off the sky would aid to emphasize the height.

Ok, I dont see all of you! Please take one step back!
I agree with sam. But it's still great.

Wow, this photo makes me nervous just looking at it let alone standing there! Regardless of the composition of this photo I think that it invokes an emotional response from me. That makes it a great shot in my book. Thanks for sharing!

Excellent shot. However it would look even better if we didnt the the base rock at the bottom of the picture. I would have cropped out the bottom about 100 Pixels. This would (in my opinion) have given the viewer an idea of the sheer drop. I also like the back drop since it actually indicates or gives a perspective of the height of the rock. I am glad you did not crop off the sky.
I also like the couple on the rock, because although it may have a 'Me at ___' quality, it gives the viewer a better feel of the position of the rock. Had the couple not been there, it would not have been such a great shot.

Incredible shot Gard! I am afraid of heights and this just made me woozy a bit just by looking at it! LOL :) Those 2 are so brave to stand on that rock! Interesting color below...sort of greenish blue...not necessarily turquoise.

Fantastique, la nature nous réserve toujours de ces surprise.
Bonne composition.

What an amazing sight. You'd have a hard time trying to get me to pose for a photo on it though.

AS opposed to one of the other criticques.. I like the pose on the rock - it adds the everyday.. to a spectacular setting. Sometimes the juxtaposition of things really adds something to an image.. where trekearth contributors often go for the spectacular settings - photographs are meant to convey an emotion.. I think this one does..

Impressive place!
A little tip, from another newbie, for better tourist shots: photos where the subject is not directly looking at the photograph often look more natural. It's a good compromise between landscape shots (nice, but not very personal) and cliché "so and so in front of" pictures.
You could have caught the subjects sitting with their back at you and looking at the scenery, or one of them pointing at something in the distance, or looking down (ok, maybe looking down is not such a good idea here but you get the idea; catching your friends before they're realized or after they've forgotten you're here)...

Hi Gard,
I'm quite happy to be here :-))
Fascinating place, great you added the couple to have a scale.
I think sharpness could be better; anyway I like this risky posing, well done!

I would totally freak up there!!! I think there is a very dramatic effect to this picture even if a wide lens can add to it.
Thanks for sharing such a great place in the world!

Fantastic! Looks so scary! Any idea how long that rock has been hanging there like that? Great composition and great depth.

Wow! What a scene! I wouldn't step above that rock...1000 meters is too high for me! I wish you had another shot without the people, and posted it in the workshop so we can see how high the rock really is! Great catch! rgds.

Hi
Looking at this picture I imagined myself on this rock and the blood started to freeze in my vains. In don't quite agree with "Me at ____" opinion. It rather shows how crazy are people sometimes to get an original picture and shock their friends.
The presence of those people there makes the photo much more interesting than only the image of fiords.
About the quality - it could be sharper.
Take care

@sam: here is the picture you want: http://lh3.ggpht.com/_bc7JhvNPrnw/R_uKtR32ARI/AAAAAAAAHlk/IgpqJZbjJ8o/NO-+9053.JPG
