Photographer’s Note
This is "Bryggen" in Bergen, the second biggest city of Norway (and actually a nicer city than Oslo, I think).
The name "Bergen" is derived from "Bjørgvin", which means "mountain meadow". The city is situated on a peninsuala, sourrounded by 7 moutains, the Byfjordes and lots of islands. Bergen got city rights in 1070 but is probably (much) older.
Bryggen, the wharf of Bergen, is the oldes part of the city and consist of old wooden houses, build by German merchants during the Hansa period, which was from around the 14th till the 18th century.
Bryggen is 1 of the 4 Norwegian objects that is added to UNESCO's list of the world's most precious cultural assets.
About the photo: automatic colours, contrasts and levels in Photoshop. After that, I cropped a part of the bottom and the left.

Groeten,
John.

Hej Stef,
Bergen is indeed a very nice place and this waterfront is gorgeous, I'd use a panoramic format for such a view, but considering the (justified) need to keep the reflection of the left house, I agree you could not crop more. Dark conditions and not so much light make the red and clear colors stand out better.
Have a nice weekend,
Jean-Yves

Hoi Stef,

Very well balanced shot, Stef. I like the cool, clear colours and the reflection. I might have cropped just a little from the bottom, though that would have interfered with the nice reflection on the right - a trade-off. Good contribution.

Stef the certainly looks like a very quaint place. The waterfront with the rippled reflections is most beautiful. It looks a little overcast but that really doesn't bother me. I got your note about the bad weather when you were in the mountains. If you have a pale sky like this one in the mountains don't forget that changing to b/w can sometimes hide that problem. Just a thought. Anyway great shooting!

This is reaching a great level in technic. The result is a very strong front, shaped in front of this calm water.
I like the colors and of couse the framing.

very nice shot again, I like the row of beautifully coloured houses here, I think a tighter crop would be great, well done though

I liked those repetative pattern but different colored houses here.. Blue color water is also another element which made this composition a great one.. Nicely done Stef.

Hello Stef:)
Nice to see your trip to Bergen was one without rain! Lucky you.. Bergen has over 200 days of rain every year! I do agree to it being one of the prettiest cities.. This quality photo being one to support that!
Oslo is just plane ugly.. Stavanger is another nice place you now.. You should come visit! Especially in the summer with all the festivals:) Bet that would fill your camera in a day!
Tell Lars that he should make a trip to Norway as well..
Cheers
