Photographer’s Note

This is "Bryggen" in Bergen, the second biggest city of Norway (and actually a nicer city than Oslo, I think).

The name "Bergen" is derived from "Bjørgvin", which means "mountain meadow". The city is situated on a peninsuala, sourrounded by 7 moutains, the Byfjordes and lots of islands. Bergen got city rights in 1070 but is probably (much) older.

Bryggen, the wharf of Bergen, is the oldes part of the city and consist of old wooden houses, build by German merchants during the Hansa period, which was from around the 14th till the 18th century.

Bryggen is 1 of the 4 Norwegian objects that is added to UNESCO's list of the world's most precious cultural assets.

About the photo: automatic colours, contrasts and levels in Photoshop. After that, I cropped a part of the bottom and the left.
