Taken 45 minutes after this image:
and 70 minutes after this one:http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo1451709.htm
This is the last of the series.
The Sildpollnes Church glowed like a Chinese lantern and the boat remained reasonably still providing yet another point of focus.
What is missing is a little bit of green in the sky. I should be so lucky! Yet another winter trip beyond the Arctic Circle and I can't report I have seen the Northern Lights. Another time... :-)

I admire your stamina. 70 minutes, at least, in the same spot on a cold evening. That almost equals sleeping in the car to get a perfect shot of dawn. To me your misery was worth every moment, so I could enjoy these fabulous pictures. In spite of the faint light, soon to disappear altogether, every detail of the mountains and the woods are still clearly visible. Maybe the most fascinating details are the lights from all along the waterfront, like a string of shining pearls. These three pictures are really very very good.
PS Thanks for your comments on the mysterious girl. That is one of the few pictures from so long ago that I clearly remember taking, like it was yesterday. She left a kind of scar in me that will never heal.

Wow! Przepiekna fotografia krajobrazu!

We have just returned from the Arctic Circle in Norway and had a fabulous time. We saw the Northern Lights on one night. I love this photo with the subtle range of deep blue colours of the evening. The lights of the houses remind us that the Lofoten Islands are inhabited despite being in such a northerly place. The reflections in the calm water are a lovely extra touch.
Kind Regards, Ann

I was just looking through the Gallery of recent postings, had to stop at this, and of course it was yours. Shame about the Northern Lights. I felt a bit sorry for you, so as a bit of a lark, I've given you some! Just for fun.

It`s wonderful to dive into your blue world in this fabulous shot. The church beautifully situated on a cape. The long exposure had a great impact on the water and created fine reflections. The majestic, snowy mountains creates a superb backdrop for the scene. Bravo:) Thanks.
Enjoy your Sunday.

capturing the Northern Lights is all about luck.
so sorry to hear you didn't get the opportunity!
there's always next time :)
i really enjoy how the tall trees move up and down along the bottom portions - its a fine way to give a contrasting element in the scene.
the exposure in and around the mountains are fantastic.
love the purple/blue tones too.
excellent photo to add to your personal collection.

Congratulations to try night picture by the cold weather; the scene is well framed, the night aspect with the overall blue color is well rendered, and of course the lights of the town and their reflections in the sea are the cherry on the cake.
