Let's call it an extension to The Beatles' "Norwegian Wood"...
A beach is not the first thing that comes to your mind if anyone says Norway (unless you're an extreme surfer). We don't have many of those sandy big ones, but we have many small ones. Most of them look like this and is not very tempting. This, though, is one of the best beaches in Bergen and is located by Lake Nordås (Nordåsvatnet).
This is my second picture posted in B&W, and a way to honor one of the greatest athletes Norway has ever had. In sports, Norway is always at the top when it comes to skiing and snow, so who would ever think Norway would get a world champion in swimming? I am talking about Alexander Dale Oen. He was born in Oen outside Bergen and his biggest hobbies were swimming and photography. He later become a great photography student and, yes, Norway's first and so far only world chapmion in swimming. When he won, July 24, 2011, he moved a whole nation by dedicating his victory to the victims at Utøya two days earlier. He was one of our biggest hopes in London 2012 and a fantastic person. But everything was going to change tragically on a training camp in Flagstaff, USA. He got a heart attack unexpectedly at age 26 and died. So this picture is partly to honor Alexander Dale Oen.
