When this image was taken in early June we still had hopes for a fine summer of 2011..!
Now we know that didn’t happen, fact is the summer has been the worst for ages, weather wise. Depending on the criteria, but some says it is the worst for 111 years, which means since the recordings started. Needless to say photography has been suffering!
An amazing amount of rain, we had regular flooding in August that is very unusual, if it happens that takes place in May/June or late autumn after heavy rain.
Now the hope is for a fine autumn hehehe…
The image shows the small wooden church (1754) in Enodd, a village passed on the road to Forollhogna National Park, which I visited twice this summer.

J'aime beaucoup ces maisons rouges norvégiennes. Elles ajouteny beaucoup de caractère aux paysages, Ici, le point de vue entres les bouleaux et la clôture est parfait.
holmertz (42831) 2011-09-05 5:53
Great colours and composition. The birch trees and the wooden fence provide a fine foreground and the church is nicely surrounded by green leaves and grass that complement the red very well. Yes, we had great hopes a few months ago. Next year maybe...:-)
Bergenphotos (2634) 2011-09-05 5:55
Yup, you know Norway. You can never expect sun... By the way, I'm sure you mean the summer of 2011 in the intro there.
The picture is very nice. A nice framing with the trees and the fence. Perhaps a little too much of them, but it would be hard to make it any better. Still, the red church catches the attention well. And well, I think it shows a piece of Norway. Good work!

Hello PAblo ,
A splendid red wooden church , from a well chosen POV . Fine effect of the fence and the trunks in the FG .
gildasjan (41830) 2011-09-05 7:42
Ce rouge est du plus bel effet sous ce magnifique ciel et les feuillages de ces arbres donnent un bon cachet à cette réalisation.
jmdias (57061) 2011-09-05 7:58

The trees and the fence are framing well the church. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the church. It is clear and sharp. The afternoon light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Pablo Interestingly I have noticed that the houses in Norway there are basically painted red.
His photo shows a nice-looking, particularly in the foreground is where the fence and trees with a very interesting texture in the trunks.
Congratulations, big hug and a great week.

after the worst summer in many years, I hope that the autumn is much better.
Luckily you could take this nice photo in early June, with a good light and with a few beautiful colors.
I like the architecture of this wooden church and its red color, which you have combined skillfully with the green tones of the trees and of the grass, in a composition with a very effective framing.
A beautiful work.

A warm hug.

Except for the flooding we had the same miserable summer here in Belgium. The only really nice summer days I had, were the 10 days I spent in Sweden.
The picture however suggests a beautiful day with many pieces of blue sky between the clouds and with nice shadows of the foliage on the wooden fence.
The composition is excellent and the vivid red wooden facade and tower in a green surrounding are so typical Scandinavian and a real eyecatcher.
Best regards, Paul

Obviously not the most representative photo of the summer of 2011 in Norway. but for sure a wonderful summer photo. I love your inclusion of the birch trees and the wooden fence in the foreground. I sure this is much better photo than a photo taken standing at the fence. The wooden church with walls painted in red very nice and unusal. TFS and have nice evening!
jlbrthnn (76037) 2011-09-06 13:43

Many thanks for your kind words Pablo.
Blushing and hiding behind trees and fence!
There's nothing to be embarrassed about; she looks lovely and so young wearing such an "à la mode" make-up!
Keep on hanging around old churches: It's good for your soul and a pleasure for our eyes!

Don't complain about the Summer, here in Argentina Winter was the worst in...many,many years, days without sun and with..ashes from a Chilean volcano, no flights and not sky at all
Anyway you compose a Summer shot plenty of colors (great red church)and contrasts
Like the wooden fence as a kind of frame
Note: Here also milk was transported and delivered in the same recipient as in India
maloutim (9637) 2011-09-09 1:25
Your favourite subject, typical wooden buidings painted red. At first sight, I thought it was a house with an elaborate architecture. All the more interesting to know it's an old church, so well kept after all these years !
Great composition with this close-up and the natural decoration provided by the lace of the tree branches.
Marvellous bright, happy colours that probably make you nostalgic about good weather.
As you say, one must hope for a good after-season.
Have a great weekend.
Kielia (23847) 2011-09-09 7:51
the image is a delight for the architect and for everybody who loves the Norwegian churches. A very well composed impression of this beautiful place with fascinating details. The colors and the light are fantastic. Excellent photo work!

Vrlo interesantan i dobar tekst ...
Lep pogled preko drvene ograde i stabla na staru drvenu crkvu, lepa fotografija.
Dobar strina snimka i kontrast kojim ste naglasili detalje na arhitekturi i prikazali lepim bojama.
Prijatan dan i sve najbolje za vikend.
Very interesting and good text ...
Very nice view over the wooden fence and trees on the old wooden church, beautiful photos.
Good aunt shot and contrast what you have pointed out the architectural details and view the beautiful colors.
Have a nice day and all the best for the weekend.

Good morning Pablo,
excellent the brilliant light management with the vivid colours to make the scene so adorable.I like the clarity as the sharpness of this beautiful wooden church with the red paint to be the eye caching of the shot as contrast perfect with the other colours of the scene.

When you say worst summer, do you mean you had no summer at all this time around?
The bright red church is striking in the quite strong light. Framed well with the trees, the red colour also contrasts well with the cyan sky. Well done!
Longroute (19396) 2011-09-11 0:14
You were not alone in that! My daughter lives in London and they had no summer at all. Same thing in Germany and Switzerland I heard....
Fine composition much in your style, with a classic Norwegian red church surrounded by fine trees and lawn. The colours are really so vivid and summer like and the subject much deserving.
Pleasant and very sharp.
Have a nice day,
paololg (31448) 2011-09-11 8:04
Ciao dear Pablo,

I am sorry for the bad weather that you have had this summer, I'm sure that the autumn will give you beautiful colors. Excellent work, congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice week!
s_lush (16134) 2011-09-11 9:06
Despite the unfavorable weather during this summer, you have managed finding an excellent sunny period and taking a very colorful and bright picture. The red church looks beautiful among the white birch trunks and in the interesting natural frame. Perfectly good result under harsh weather conditions!

So it was? In Russia's North-West it was not that bad as previous one, not that hot. Also, last summer there were no rain for two months, and this summer it was significantly more often...
Anyway, here are the very good photo, intense red color - seems like whole Sweden and half of Norway being painted this paint.
marcan44 (6305) 2011-09-22 5:15
an excellent composition, I still had not seen a wooden church and even red.
The church is surrounded by trees and grass and the colors are very nice.
Great framing and sharpness.
Have a nice day,

un trio de teintes fortes, rouge, bleu et vert, en bonne proportion, donne toute la dimension de cette campagne sous le soleil. Une photo simple comme l'est cette demeure, agréable à regarder et sans doute à habiter.

The red woodwork of the house is fantastic. Great framing with the trees and fence, excellente work, congratulations!

COSTANTINO (57307) 2011-11-25 22:56
I chose this shot because it is very impressive
the red house makes a dynamic contrast
and the foreground adds the difference
lights and shadows play together
