Photographer's Note

The Lofoten Islands are said to be among the most photogenic places on earth. So it was no wonder that a well organized trip to these islands near the 70th parallel, in the northern part of Norway, was among my favorite dreams. I must say that weather conditions are to be part of succesful images. One has to be lucky and the weather reports are far for being accurate, when planning a trip a month in advance.
So what's so exciting about these islands linked by elegant bridges and undersea tunnels nowadays ? The huge pyramidal granite rocks that seem to soar out of the fjords, the intricate coves that bring nice reflections and the usually red fishermen huts. Sometimes clouds can add mystic thoughts.
Here is an early morning picture taken at Hamnoy ,near Reine, a small village near the end of the Lofoten ,which is so spectacular, that it would be correct to say , " See Reine and die"
