Photographer’s Note
An alternative title for this picture could have been "girls' talk", just as for the other which I will post in workshop. However, these two girls, the tall blonde and the little brunette, were both crew members on the Sorlandet, in charge of my watch. It is easy to tell with the blue overalls (the trainees has not uniform of any kind, apart from the ship's tee-shirt). It is on the Norvegian tallships that I discovered for the first time females crew members, with exactly the same duties as the males. The Scandinavians have always been leading on the matter of equality between sex. This seems probably strange today, but remember this picture was taken 16 years ago, at a time when females were still struggling to enter the maritime community in some countries.
In workshop, another group of girls, this time two trainess and of of my two crew members, unfortunatly slightly tilted (and redressing it would means loosing to much of the image).
