Photographer’s Note
The kind of modern man-made island you can find now in the middle of the North Sea: a production plateform, either for gas or oil. Some of them with big torches are very impressive at night. An articifical island for natural resources, and a major source of wealth for the surrounding countries, especially Norway which is surely a beautiful country, but not the best place for human development apart from fishing(lots of mountains, few agricultural lands despite of the lovely pictures of landscapes from Pablominto here on TE).

That one is a production platform. It has a derrick because later on, during the production phase of the field it may be required to drill new wells or clean existing wells in order to maximise the recovery.
It is a nice shot that shows well the isolation we, I say “we” because I work in such places, work to produce that infamous liquid which is now blamed for all the CO2 emissions!!!

Very nice view, Emmanuel, with the "little" platform like standing on the horizon line... Strong "thick strips" of sea and sky enhance the graphical impact - and the ripples add depth and dynamics... regards, Daniel

Bonjour Emmanuel
Like this image of the oil rig with lots of FG of the sea. Lovely waves with the light striking on them...the turquoise colour is very appealing under the cloudy sky! Good work!
Best Regards

Hello Emmanuel,
Seems like this is the Ekofisk field, the very first to be put into production in Norwegian sector in the North Sea on June 9, 1971..!
A pleasant composition showing the rigs from a distance, and I notice the dramatic clouds hovering above...
Greetings,
Pablo -

well I always admire your interest and care about keeping old photos with attention. this is another example.taking the photo on a cloudy day makes it very impressive if the sky was just white it wouldnt look that special . really great...
