Photographer’s Note

June '02: After crossing the (*) Skagerrak (between Denmark & Norway) with the ferry, we arrived in Kristiansand. Then we drove the long valley of Setesdal that stretches for miles with a beautiful landscape along the river (**) Otra.
The original area of Setesdal starts south of Evje and extends as far as Bjåen, to the north in the direction of northern Telemark and the mountain plateau of Hardangervidda.

This picture was taken in the surrounding of Haukeli, at the end of the Setesdal.

(*)The Skagerrak is a strait, 240 km long and 140 km wide, between Norway and Denmark, linking the North Sea and the Baltic Sea by way of the Kattegat. It is shallow on the Danish shore and deepens toward the Norwegian coast.
(**)Otra flow into the sea by the town Kristiansand.

Très belle photo de Norvège... Il faudrait d'ailleurs que j'aille aussi visiter le nord de l'Europe. Je ne pense pas être allé plus loin que Bergen-op-de-zoom!
Ici, j'aime bien ce reflet, la neige qui n'est pas surexposée et ces petites maisons. Bien vu, Viviane!

Ohhh! I have just noticed that this was taken in June, and still some snow, wow! This makes a very nice pattern on the hill.
Maybe it's because the patches of snow on the hill are so abundant that I find that both the hill and its reflection makes a very very busy shot. I tried by placing a piece of paper at the bottom of the ice floating on the lake to remove the bottom part and I find that it would leave a very lovely panorama image with the houses more visible (and their reflection) and less eye movement going up and down. Sorry, too lazy tonight to make a WS to demonstrate what I mean.

Lovely scenery shot Vivian. It is really what I have in mind for Norway.

I think the brightness is a bit too much and there is still place for a bit more sharpness. I have a little WS for you :)

Fine landscape picture with a great reflection Viviane. I'm glad you had this nice weather going trough Setesdalen, a nice valley with a very changing landscape from the south to the north.

This is a great composition Viviane! the reflexions are great and love the house, filling the theme and giving us a good scale. Nice colors too, think it could be a litlle sharper.
