Gone Fishing Photo

Photographer’s Note

Just a lakeside mood captured in backlight on a crisp October day, found in my archives as I’m organizing older images.

Three youngsters gone fishing in a rowing boat, and if they catch anything it will be trout...

The fishing gear they are using is called an ”oter” in Norwegian, I don’t even know if an equivalent term exists in English! The oter is like a small boat that is used to pull out a line with 6-8 hooks (normally wet fly) attached to it, making this a very efficient fishing tool and thus prohibited in many lakes.

In the image the oter is visible as the red dot to the left side of the boat, here they have just started to launch the device.

Hi Pablo,
Great shot, I like this brilliant white line which separates these blue tints of the lake and the background. The contrasts of the blues are particularly successful, the tree was also very well placed.

I like very much how the blue tones of the water contrasts with the very dark and steep mountain slope, the glittering of the sunlight on the lake and the white line dividing the water surface and the mountain.

Hi Pablo,

The presence of the peole and of the boat has an effect of scale. The point of view leads our eyes toward the cliff which is giving depth to the composition. The sparkles of light on the water are enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Pablo,

The glittering of the water is great contrasting against the dark forest at the like side.
I think a version without the boats gives a fascinating almost abstract composition with the horizontal line of the sunlight just in the middle of the composition.

Taking the image into the light has given a pleasing glitter to the water. I might have preferred the boat to have been further to the right so the biggest space was in front of it. Nevertheless it's a vision in blue!

Love the shimmering lights sparkels on the water. Difficult light for this shot, but you managed well. Maybe a little over compensated with sharpening. Compositionally, I think there is too much room on the right I would have prefer more to the left especially if there are more trees following the only one in the mid-ground. Thanks.

Thanks for digging out this fine image from your archives..like the effect of light as it falls on the water & sparkles like crystals especially at the horizon. Technically to be correct the boat should have been positioned more towards the right...but for me, this is visually pleasing. Like the framing done by the lone dark tree on the left. Fine work!

There so much sparkling joy in this picture seeing by my eyes. trout fishing in early october is as good energy for the winter as a journey Southern Europe,well thats my opinion and I know that not everybody agrees with me.
