Harvest Barn Photo

Photographer’s Note

The first theme I created here in TrekEarth was Barns of The World! The fact that the theme now consists of 95 images shows that barns are popular subjects, in particular in Europe and North America.

As always when I launch a theme I prepare a number of images to start with, and in the end quite a few are never published for one reason or another! So with the barns too…

This fine specimen is one of them, and frankly I think it deserves a chance in TE..! It is one of the larger barns in my area, besides it just got a new coat of paint! As always red as the custom is here.

We can see the barley has just been harvested and probably stored in the barn, unless it already was taken to the mill...

Hi Pablo,

The trees are framing well the barn. The 3/4 view is showing the details and colors of the structure of two sides of the barn. It is clear and sharp. There is a good contrast betwwen the yellow color of the field and the red brownish color of the barn. have a nice day.

Quite impressive. Size is huge for a barn and new paint is literally glowing. Bright tones of the harvested crops compete in saturation with the main subject.

Hi Pablo,
There are certainly red barns in Norway too, not only in Sweden :) This red colour is always very good againts a blue sky and here you have also managed to include a big yellow field as well. A mervellous combination effect. The irregular positions of the windows are are worth an extra point. Looks like the architect of this barn had some very strong ideas about balance of this building!

Hi Pablo, Interesting theme - barns of the world... I like the barns in US, but have no good photos. Our barns are not so spectacular. This one is huge and in this red colour I like so much. simple but attractive composition. I often observed this something like the bridge leading to the gate. Here it is also.

The freshly mowed field goes well with the red and blue of the summer sky.

I really the harmony between the golden stubble and the red barn; I also like the detail of the curving rows of stubble. the diagonal framing you selected that shows the side windows and the high barn door. I agree, it does deserve TE fame.

Obviously, this photo has been well received (!!) in the TE community.

What grabs my attention is the wonderful golden hue of the crop stubble in contrast to the rich red of the barn. The sharpness and clarity of the image are both excellent features and you have used a simple, yet effective framing.

My only "disappointment" in viewing the photo is that the sky color is such a soft blue. Without knowing, I expect clear sky conditions in Norway to produce the rich blues I've seen in other northern latitudes (Russia, Denmark) which, complementing the red and gold, would have been spectacular for this photo!

Yes, Pablo,
it surely deserve a place (and a prominent one) in TE! This is the epitome of semplicity and essentiality plus what a quality photo must have: an intense chromatic contrast, actually three colours, golden, red, light blue (plus a little bit of green) which fill wonderfully the photogram.
