Photographer’s Note

This is the south wing of City Hall in Trondheim, facing the Cathedral. The address is Munkegaten 1, the most exclusive in the city!

The building was finished in 1896 and originally build for Trondheim College of Technology, but it was taken over by the City of Trondheim and converted to City Hall from 1930.

Trondheim City Hall houses the meeting rooms for the city council and the city executive board, and has offices for the city executive board, the mayor, deputy mayor and some other staff.

City Hall is located next door to the Nidaros Cathedral in central Trondheim, and is a large two-storey building in neo-Renaissance style with a high ground floor and a mezzanine floor. Architects were Lars Solberg and Johan Christensen.

I am sure you are taking a short break with this close up of the facade. It is very graphic and you have positioned yourself well so that the negative shape harmonized beautifully with that of the facade. The sense of space and depth is accentuated by the converging lines and helped by the reflection of the sky in the windows. Well done!!

A city hall without specially style of adornment or other decorations.
But maybe very functional as city hall.
You chose for a vertical perspective,and certainly for a good quality and colour.

Pablo,

This is an interesting shot, the angles are really skewed but work well anyway. I see there is a bit of ailising around some of the windows but that may be a function of the computer I am usung, or the shallow angles or the samll post size, but it is not important.

The note adds the necessary touch to make this a really good shot.

Hej Pablo,
It's a long time since i visited Trondheim, but it's time to do it. I found the town very pleasant last time I was there 17 years ago.
The townhouse has that typical modernistic architecture that I can recognice from other Scandinavian major towns, and i really like this period of time when the architecture opens up for the light and cleans up the lines.
