Photographer’s Note

The sunrise is always more spectacular than sunset in my place.

Once in a while the sun advertises its advent more dramatically than usual, and this morning came with some great play of light in the sky! And a couple of birds (magpies or crows?) find the view worthwhile too, as they are waiting for the breakfast to be served…

I think the secret is to be around and ready, since the effect seldom lasts for more than a few minutes…

No tricks or HDR, this is the real thing except the usual underexposure in my sky photography (here EV –1.33).

After having studied this image and others I took that morning, I think I have found the solution to the bird problem: In fact they are both crow and magpie, and the upper one is the crow characterized by a considerably shorter tail!
