Before Sunrise Photo

Photographer’s Note

The sunrise is always more spectacular than sunset in my place.

Once in a while the sun advertises its advent more dramatically than usual, and this morning came with some great play of light in the sky! And a couple of birds (magpies or crows?) find the view worthwhile too, as they are waiting for the breakfast to be served…

I think the secret is to be around and ready, since the effect seldom lasts for more than a few minutes…

A different angle is shown in the workshop image.

No tricks or HDR, this is the real thing except the usual underexposure in my sky photography (here EV –1.33).

After having studied this image and others I took that morning, I think I have found the solution to the bird problem: In fact they are both crow and magpie, and the upper one is the crow characterized by a considerably shorter tail!

Gorgeous red, pink and blue tones. I like the minimalist composition with the leafless tree silhouetted against the early morning sky. The bird in the uppermost branches is a definite bonus and adds much to the mood of the shot.

It's a really surprising picture. The glow red and so on among the trees reminds me of the fires that every summer devastate my Sardinia. I have tried to position the magpie in the middle of the picture, to reduce the black of the mountain.

fanastic, dramatic effect! This looks like fire in the sky! I like the bare trees and the birds sitting on one of the tree branches.
Nature sometimes offers us incredible colours! It's up to us to capture them or leave them unnoticed. Fortunately, these were captured :)
I also like the Workshop photo; it is very different. For me, both are equally interesting and beautiful in their own ways!

Hope your well. This is a super sunrise shot, always better than sunset, however trying to get out of bed that time is a pain but can produce images like this. What can I say, the colours are spot on and the trees compliment the scene with excellent sharpness. The bird is the icing on the cake here, I like the neutral tones in this also.

The sunrise is giving red-orange colors to the sky and a set of shadows to the rest of the photo. The point of view takes us where the forest meet the sky. It is giving a sensation of awakening. Have a nice weekend.

A beautifull combination of red and deep purple. Sunrises usually gives more pale colors, but these are rather vivid. And excellent sharpness as illustrated by the birds in the trees.

In distinction to your setting, the sunsets are far more dramatic here. In any event, you have captured this sunset like the master photographer that you are. Oh wow, this is what I like in late autumn - all these red-cold blue colors and this cold-yeah, cold again - palette. I can stare at such sky very long, well, as long as it's not too dark.

Of 75 critiques, I notice only one which mentions the sharpening issue - unfortunately he observes the opposite of the problem - a "lack hallo". To my eyes, the severe sharpening halos spoil your presentation, making an unnatural harshness in the fine branches.

This is an absolutely amazing sunrise! One tends to see more sunsets on TE, probably because people don't get up early enough to capture them! I like the blazing effect which forms a good contrast with the lightening sky!
As for the little crow on top of the tree enjoying it all alone with you, it's a very cute wink at the beauty of Nature!
