Photographer’s Note

The river Gaula is dividing the valley, and the highway, railway, villages, most shops and service institutions are located on the east bank.

The land is however fairly equally distributed on both sides, so there are a considerable number of farms also on the west side of the river.

As a result there are a several bridges crossing, located around every 10 km along the river which only purpose is to service the farms located on the west bank.

There is nothing impressive about the bridges, they are as narrow as they can be to accommodate a truck or a tractor but some of the bridges are quite long.

Judged by the design many bridges were build during the same period between the two world wars, maybe around 1930.

WORKSHOP: Image shows the bridge from a different point of view, captured during spring flooding.
