This is another one of the photos I took last Saturday as I attended the opening of the European Capital of Culture 2008, Stavanger Norway.

This festive day contained hours of parades, people in fantastic costumes and a splendid fireworks display to top off the evening.

The display was presented as being a show in 5 acts, each act containing a different set of colour to match with the themes of the acts.
I am not sure what act this was, but the photo I posted two days ago was to represent the red colour in the Norwegian flag.


On a more serious part I give this photo in tribute to the people killed during the Kabul attack yesterday.
The Norwegian reporter Carsten Thomassen was one of the victims, he was my third cousin and although I personally didn't know him well I do feel a loss.
Rest in Peace. You did a fine job, many people are proud of you and so am I...
